The "1-Minute" Review

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is the larger version of Samsung’s latest release. However, apart from size, it shares many similarities with it’s smaller sibling.

Key differences include:

  • A larger 6.2-inch 1440-by-2960 display
  • A larger 3500mAh battery

Reviewers found that the display still looks sharp and vibrant even though the resolution is still the same. Engadget says, “For the people in search of buying advice, here's all you need to know about the S8 and S8 Plus's screens: They're awesome.”

Battery life for the S8 is stellar. Stuff TV notes, “It managed over 12 hours of streaming video playback, and easily lasted a full day of heavy use - including wireless music streaming to a pair of Bluetooth headphones, snapping photos and far too much time spent scrolling through Facebook.”

The price might make some shoppers head towards LG's direction, but the Galaxy S8+ proves that you can have a phone with all of the features people could want, yet at the same time, retain a premium look and feel.

The devices, which hit stores Friday, aren't perfect. Cool-sounding features like iris and facial recognition were extremely spotty for me. The devices, which hit stores Friday, aren't perfect. Cool-sounding features like iris and facial recognition were extremely spotty for me. Water and dust resistance are great, but other phones now share these traits. What sold me after using the S8+ for several days was an engineering feat that's resulted in a very simple but powerful solution for users: a wide display that stretches from one curved edge of the relatively narrow body to the other.

It's pretty hard not to be impressed with the Galaxy S8+, despite its tall design, especially because at this point, it's undoubtedly the best smartphone on the market. OK, the S8+ does have its own setbacks, like the oddly placed fingerprint scanner, but it all happens in typical Samsung fashion. The South Korean firm has always made a more or less significant compromise, but there'll certainly be a time when all of these are going to stop.

It's difficult to put into words what a stunning device the Samsung Galaxy S8+ actually is. The design is incredible, performance is class-leading and battery life is excellent. It really is the complete package. Our only gripe is that the design lends itself to accidents, as the Galaxy S8 is so well designed that it's also a delicate flower. If you're prone to dropping things, buy a case ASAP.
