The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ is the middle option in Samsung’s 2022 top-tier Android tablet round-up. However, it has a lot in common with its smaller (and more affordable) Tab S8 sibling. So is it worth the price to upgrade, and who might want this mid-list mobile option?
What’s Different
- 12.4-inch AMOLED screen
- Bigger battery
- In-display fingerprint scanner
- 5G connectivity
What’s the Same
- Processor
- 8GB of RAM
- 12MP+ camera
- 45W fast charging
- S-Pen included
- Silver and Pink color options
- Optional accessories
In most cases, when comparing the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and S8+, reviewers questioned whether buyers need a middle option.
Laying it out on paper does seem a little odd.
We see three reasons to consider the S8+ over the standard Galaxy Tab S8:
- You want the larger AMOLED panel
- You want 5G connectivity
- You want the in-display fingerprint scanner.
Otherwise, the S8 and the S8+ are very similar.
Tom’s Guide says, “The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus is the odd duck in the new Galaxy Tab S8 lineup. It has the same features of the vanilla Galaxy Tab S8, only with a 12.4-inch AMOLED screen and 5G connectivity. That last point is interesting because the S8 Plus is the only S8 that Samsung is currently selling with 5G connectivity (at least, in the U.S.) via Verizon.”
Screenrant states, “If it sounds like the Tab S8 and Tab S8+ are virtually identical, that's because they are. The core experience of both is mostly the same. However, there are a couple of key differences that help justify the Tab S8+'s higher asking price. The biggest upgrade is its display.”

What the Critics Are Saying...

- June Wan, ZDNetI'm a firm believer that you should never buy a product for its promise of future updates. The Tab S8 Plus is an exception. Not only does the Samsung tablet impress in hardware, but it delivers software features (for the stylus as well!) that no other Android manufacturer is doing. And with up to fi...

- Marcus Herbrich, NotebookcheckThe Galaxy Tab S8 Plus is a solid evolution of last year’s Tab S7 Plus, and in view of the scarce competition in the segment of premium tablets the Korean manufacturer did the bare minimum required to create the best Android tablet of 2022. The Galaxy Tab S8 Plus’s only real competitor is the slight...

- Dan Seifert, The VergeAfter years of not seeing a great reason to buy an Android tablet, I have to admit that Samsung has presented a compelling pitch this time around — provided you are already in the Samsung Android ecosystem. The Tab S8 and S8 Plus integrate well enough with other Samsung products, they are excellent...

- Joshua Goldman, CnetThe Galaxy Tab S8 Plus is the overlooked middle child of Samsung's latest tablet line but it deserves your attention. Its pricier sibling, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, overshadowed the Plus when they were announced in February, mainly because of its huge display. But, while it's tempting to succumb to F...

- Zois Bekios Zannikos, NextPitThe Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ manages to succeed in all the important points. Performance is very good with room for improvement, the AMOLED screen provides a great audiovisual spectacle (alongside the 4-speakers) and the overall experience of the device is good. The design, S Pen support, and the mult...
