The Lenovo IdeaTab A3000 might be the perfect tablet for Android users who are looking for a cheaper 7” tablet alternative but do not want to sacrifice quality. The A3000 is a 7” tablet like the A1000, but that’s where the comparisons end. Unlike the A1000 the A3000 screen is IPS, which translates to better viewing angles. It’s also more powerful than the A1000 thanks to its MTK 8125 1.2GHz quad core processor and 1GB of RAM. This affords the tablet excellent multi-tasking ability and a superior gaming experience.
Like many Android tablets, this one comes with a built-in WiFi card, Bluetooth connectivity and 16GB of onboard storage with the option to expand storage to 64GB thanks to the micro-SD slot. The battery life is on par with the Google Nexus, lasting around 7 hours of regular usage and 2 weeks in standby mode. Itcomes with Android 4.1, however it can be upgraded to the most recent Android OS 4.2.
While the A3000 is a relatively solid tablet all around for the price there are some minor drawbacks. The screen resolution is relatively low for a tablet in its class at 1024x600 or 170ppi. Compare this to the Asus MeMo Pad HD which boasts 800x1280 resolution. Aside from this, it offers a 5MP rear-facing camera and 0.3MP front-facing camera, however it does not have built-in flash so it is all but impossible to take pictures in low light.
For its price, the IdeaTab A3000 is a decent tablet that can perform basic tasks and run processor intensive apps.
The Good: IPS screen for excellent viewing angles, quad-core processor for fast performance, long battery life.
The Bad: Poor screen resolution, no flash for cameras, poor resolution for front-facing camera.
