The Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 looks like a good entry level tablet for people who do not want to spend a lot of money but want something that is portable and has the same basic functionalities as other tablets. The A1000 is the more affordable sibling of the IdeaTab A3000 though both boast a 7-inch screen and utilize the Android operating system.
It offers a dual core 1200 MHz, ARM Cortex-A9 processor and 1GB of RAM. This affords the tablet excellent processing speed, which means fewer lag issues on applications and games. The tablet also offers 16GB of built-in storage with a microSD slot that allows users to expand their memory up to 32GB. For users that wish to watch videos or surf the web for an extended period of time, the A1000’s battery life offers 6 hours of continuous video playback and 8 hours of WiFi surfing time. Idle, the batteries will last around 14 days. Aside from this, the IdeaTab offers similar amenities to more expensive tablets such as multi-touch, GPS and Bluetooth connectivity.
Unfortunately, the low cost of the tablet does reduce the quality of some of the features. While there is a forward facing camera, it is of relatively low quality at 0.3MP. The screen resolution is 1024 x 600 with a relatively low DPI if 171PPI. In addition, the screen itself is not IPS, so there are will be issues with viewing angles. In terms of weight and thickness, the IdeaTab A1000 is mid-range in comparison to its specs weighing in at 340 grams.
The Good: Dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM, affordable price, expandable SD memory.
The Bad: Poor screen resolution and no IPS leading to bad viewing angles, poor quality front-facing camera.
What the Critics Are Saying...

- Campbell Bird, 148AppsPaper Dungeons is still pretty great, though flawed. It has a nice set of tools for players that want to create RPG dungeons and scenarios, as well as plenty of content for those who just want to wander through dungeons and kill stuff. Even though it isn't as persistent as it appears to be and it ha...

- Nadia Oxford, Pocket GamerWhile Paper Dungeons is perhaps a little too rough and ready, its DIY philosophy - seen in its visuals and in its dungeon creation and sharing tools - will be difficult to resist for old school dice rollers.

- Eugene Kim, ITProPortalThe Lenovo IdeaTab A1000 is affordable and has an above average set of speakers, but it makes too many sacrifices with features and performance. The display is fairly dismal and the performance is as pedestrian as it gets.

- Adama D. Brown, TabletPCReviewThere's nothing horribly bad about the IdeaTab A1000, but then, there's nothing particularly great about it either.

- Scott Webster, Android GuysIn our mind this tablet works better for older users who want to go ultra-portable and keep a tablet in the living room instead of a laptop.
