Huawei’s MediaPad M5 line-up is bringing some much-needed design and performance boosts to the Android tablet market.
The M5 10 is the larger option in the series but features similar specs to its smaller sibling.
It features a 10.8-inch IPS display running at the same 2560-by-1600 pixel resolution as the smaller tablet. This means there’s more screen real estate but a lower pixel-per-inch rating. Despite this, reviewers found the tablet plenty sharp for everything from drawing to reading to watching movies.
The 7500mAh also helps to keep battery life on par with the smaller model. Reviewers had no trouble reaching a full day on a single charge. However, even with Quick Charge through the USB Type-C charger, expect full charges to take some time to complete.
Audio on the M5 10 receives a slight upgrade as well with the addition of two more Harman Kardon tuned speakers -- bringing to total to four.
Lastly, if you opt for the M5 10 Pro model, you’ll find a fine-tipped active stylus included with the kit. Some regions also have access to keyboard dock accessory with the Pro.
Reviews on the stylus are excellent. The automatic palm canceling and lightweight design made it easy to sketch or take notes.
The keyboard received mixed reviews. While most loved the added protection it offers and found the keyboard itself adequate for typing and regular use, most found the track pad was hard to use and found the keyboard a bit flimsy.

What the Critics Are Saying...

- Henry T. Casey, Laptop MagHuawei has a contender with the M5 Pro, thanks to the tablet's great battery life, nice display and good performance. For much more battery life, you can get the Lenovo Tab 4 Plus, which also costs $200 less than the M5 Pro. But if you're looking for an Android tablet with solid performance, and if...

- Alex Hernandez, TechaerisOverall, this is a solid device when it comes to hardware. You will have to decide if the software experience fits into your workflow and if your favorite apps are optimized enough for you.

- Matt Adams, Android GuysIt doesn’t have the most powerful processor, the most ram, storage, or the biggest battery. The software isn’t the cleanest or most feature-packed, but we loved every moment with the Huawei MediaPad M5 Pro. From getting some work done to watching way too many Casey Neistat videos on YouTube, it was...

- Manuel Masiero, NotebookcheckThe Huawei MediaPad M 5 10.8 Pro is an expensive tablet, which, aside from its digital stylus, varies very little from the significantly cheaper MediaPad M5 10.8

- Dima Aryeh, Android and MeAr $449, the MediaPad M5 Pro isn’t particular cheap. However, it offers one of the most complete Android tablet experiences on the market. The inclusion of the M-Pen in the box is a nice touch for artists and those who like to draw.
