The Hoomband Wireless wants to help with your insomnia and let you block out the world around you for better sleep. While headband-style headphones only differ so much, does the Hoomband Wireless bring anything to the table that helps it stand out?

Design & Materials

While reviewers didn’t state specific materials by name, it was said that the band is made of an elastic breathable fabric that is well ventilated for long wearing. The super-thin speakers fit inside the band so as to be nearly undetectable. Finally, in a difference to many other models, there is a foam insert that helps the band hug the contours of your head and pad the speakers.

Comfort & Fit

While the band is snug, it’s not in an uncomfortable way. Reviewers found it just snug enough to stay put no matter how you sleep. The band is also easily washable. The stretchy design also breathed well, not getting quite as hot as similar fleece bands.

Sound

The Hoomband Wireless features a wireless Bluetooth 5.0 module, putting it ahead of many wireless headband models. While the speakers are fairly thin, reviewers found the audio well-balanced, stating that even audiophiles will appreciate the sound they produce.

Wireless Performance

Reviewers had no trouble with the headphones keeping a signal all night long -- even with their phone across the room.

Battery Life

While no reviewers mentioned battery life, there were no complaints about waking up to dead headphones in the middle of the night. But you’ll likely need to charge them every few days to be sure.

Noise Cancellation

The Hoomband doesn’t have active noise cancellation. However, reviewers found they were still good and filtering out the outside sounds without it thanks to the foam insert in the headband.

Other Features

If you don’t have a favorite app to fall asleep to, Hoomband features a dedicated app only available to Hoomband users which includes audiobooks, meditations, and other calming content to help you calm down and drift off.

The Takeaway

The Hoomband received solid reviews. Superior sound quality and a vast library of sounds, environments, and music help you get to sleep pleased reviewers. A snug, comfortable fit in three sizes ensures the band stays in place all night. There is very little not to enjoy from Hoomband as long as you don’t mind the price.

The Gadget Head says, “What surprises me is that I don’t find the headband at all uncomfortable or inconvenient to use; in fact I like the way it hugs the head, it’s quite comforting. It does come in 3 sizes, so ensure that you measure your head for the perfect fit.”

AP News states, “Unlike Headspace applications that require users to pay a hefty monthly fee, HoomBand’s native app can be used lifelong absolutely free of charge.”
