The phone is predictably lacking when it comes to synthetic benchmarks but that isn’t the be all and end all.

We like what Xolo has done with the Q1200 - especially its price. This is a great phone and unlike several others in its class, this one doesn't cut corners when it comes to screen resolution or storage space. Both the fingerprint scanner and the IR blaster work really well, for the most part, and aren't just gimmicks. At least during our testing period, we got pretty accustomed to using these features. This is also a good device for someone who wants a phone with a large screen to watch videos on.

The XOLO Q1200 isn’t a breakthrough device. Nor is it a phone that particularly stands out. The lack of hardware differentiation makes it a handset that is yet another mid range Android running phone. The software proves to be half baked and the hardware too lacks polish.

In light of recently announced phones like the Xiaomi Mi3, the Asus Zenfone 5 and the tried and test Moto G which are all available in the same price range as the XOLO Q1200, it is hard to recommend the handset.

It's All About the Software

We like what Xolo has done with the Q1200 - especially its price. This is a great phone and unlike several others in its class, this one doesn't cut corners when it comes to screen resolution or storage space. The camera is also quite remarkable.

It seems as though Xolo was targeting the Motorola Moto G, which has become the de facto model to recommend in this price range. Put side by side, the Moto G's processor and software look better, but the Q1200 has a microSD slot and a great camera. It's an even match between the two...

It seems as though Xolo was targeting the Motorola Moto G, which has become the de facto model to recommend in this price range. Put side by side, the Moto G's processor and software look better, but the Q1200 has a microSD slot and a great camera. It's an even match between the two.

Our impressions of the Q1200 are positive overall though we do wish Xolo would stop messing around with the software unnecessarily. The company is well on its way to becoming a top-tier player in India, but needs to fine tune its products a little more before it can get there.
