The "1-Minute" Review

The Sanyo Pro 700 is a rugged flip phone that merges a military-spec exterior (able to withstand dust, shock and vibration), with useful technology, including a built-in GPS transceiver, Bluetooth and excellent call clarity.

People who work in the field will appreciate the durable, raised, rubberized alphanumeric buttons, the large, external time display, and the easy-grip feel resulting from the quality build materials used to create what is largely a Sanyo Pro 200 on steroids.

The Sanyo Pro 700 also features two important keys located on its spine which allow the user to make and end calls without having to open the phone. Clearly, this devise is designed for busy professionals who have less interest in the subtleties of uber-technology than in just getting the job done.

When opened, the Sanyo Pro 700 features a familiar alphanumeric keypad, and a navigational array that sports a dedicated “text” button, making the process of sending a text a simple matter indeed.

Add an excellent speakerphone and good call quality and you have a truly useful communication tool for anyone who needs to communicate quickly and clearly, regardless of the elements.

Pros: Quality build materials, durable and designed for easy-access to obvious functions.

Cons: Bulky, perhaps unnecessarily so.

Verdict: The Sanyo Pro 700 is tough as nails and able to give battle to Casio’s Muscle-Moble-Line any day.

Don't buy a Sanyo!!! They treat their customers like Crap!!

I bought 2 Sanyo PRO-700's for our landscaping business, I paid over $600 for both of them and both died about 4 days after the warrenty ( 1 year ) I called sanyo and explained that they died and I would like them to repair it. they asked if there was any damage to the phones. I bought 2 Sanyo PRO-700's for our landscaping business, I paid over $600 for both of them and both died about 4 days after the warrenty ( 1 year ) I called sanyo and explained that they died and I would like them to repair it. they asked if there was any damage to the phones. I told them that the 10-4 button had fallen off the phone at 3 months, but since I don't use that feature, it didn't matter. She told me that since I told her that it was past the warrenty and their was damage they would not help me.... First off, if I sold a product and it failed a few days after the warrenty, you better believe I would fix the problem! That's how you keep a customer for life. Second, their button fell off and becouse of that the warrenty is void..... That's like buying a new truck and in 3 months the engine blows up and you take it to the dealer and they say " sorry but it's damaged.... you don't have a warrenty" I don't get mad often at companys, but I told the lady at snayo that if they did not fix the problem, I would tell everyone that I know about how I was treated...... And here I am! On the other hand i had a problem with my jawbone and called up the company expecting the age old screw you treatment and was treated like royalty. Don't buy any SANYO phone..... They treat their customers like Crap! Trust me! Less

Was thinking of purchasing sanyo pro 700

after checking reviews changed my mind thanks

Screen display failed shortly after purchasing.

My cell service provider sent the phone away for warranty repair. Sanyo said no warranty. Pay $140+ and they will fix the phone. The phone was returned not repaired. This is the last Sanyo phone I ever buy. I have several coworkers with the same phone all with the same problem.

Nice durable phone

I wouldn't call it "military-grade" but it's much more solid than the little girly ones. Both screens are bright and easy to read, the buttons are raised which is more convenient than the flat ones, everything works. You can't outright abuse it, but it will survive normal use in the field a lot longer than those flimsy little cute ones. Less

Military grade?????

The front screen went black and white after about the third day. When I returned it to the dealer for an explaination he told me the front screen was very delicate and because I abused it my warranty was null and void. He was willing to repair it for a price. Boy, did I get sucked in! Military grade.....bull! Less

Joe St. Denis
I have the pro 700 Sanyo phone. Had to send it back for warranty before end of 1 year warranty. It is acting up again. Past warranty. I can turn it on but cannot get any functions to respond . Cannot shut it off. Have to remove battery to shut off. Cannot access any information or phone numbers in my phone. The dealer {bell phones} says it will cost more to have it repaired than what the phone is worth. They say they are getting very poor service from Sanyo. Any ideas as to what to do? Thanks Joe St. Denis, Any suggestion as to who could fix at a reasonable price.

Was a great phone while it worked. Very unhappy now, inside screen is blank, won't respond to anything. No SIM card so all my numbers are gone. Was told wart.ended two weeks ago. 4-600 dollars to fix. Very unimpressed.

Crap and Sanyo is too

Had the Sanyo Pro-700 for 6 months and the adapter plug came away from the plate inside the phone and Sanyo would not fix or replace it. Of course they use their usual line of it was due to abuse. I cannot afford to abuse and expensive phone just for the hell of it. If I were to give them the phone, yo...More

Didn’t get the extended warranty either. I can't see whose calling or any texts that have been received. I was hoping to get all my contact info downloaded to another phone, but I am told it can't be done because the screen is gone. I have 160 contacts on that phone. Anyone have any ideas on getting the contacts off of my cell phone? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Less

Not happy

My pro 700 lasted almost a week before the front screen started looking like a sunrise. It's screwed. Bell told me that it had been bumped. Not that I'm aware of. So much for the military toughness. They said they would send it to Sanyo for $50.00. I decided that I didn't need a $50.00 clock, because that is all the outside screen does. I don't like the small font on the screen, and there is no way of enlarging it. All in all I'm sorry I paid $300.00 for this inferior product. Last Sanyo I will buy. Less
