It is still clearly an entry-level device

Besides the cameras, you also have to make compromises in terms of performance and memory equipment. The Galaxy J1 still does not support 5 GHz WLAN. Positive aspects are obviously the long battery runtime and the compact and sturdy chassis. You cannot go wrong with the 2016 model in general, but we would still wait with the purchase until the price has dropped a bit... Full review

The Samsung Galaxy J1 has respectable build quality for a smartphone this cheap and the display was also a pleasant surprise, putting the low resolution aside. However, those are the J1’s only positive qualities. .. Full review
