The best mobile phone I ever owned, but not for everyone

If you want light, thin, great QWERTY keyboard, touch-screen, awesome camera and use for interent, emails, messaging, etc., this is not the phone for you. I don't use this phone for anything except talking, and I have had it for almost 3 years. Some minor scratches on the screen over time, but I don't keep in a case, and am rough on the phone. Very rugged. Love it and will miss when it eventually dies. Less

Have had the V365 for a few days after purchasing on eBay for $115 CDN shipped. I based my purchase on past reviews found on this site & others. Is configured for AT&T but that is a minor annoyance considering its already unlocked & ready to pop in any SIM card. **Note: Rogers & Fido operate the only GSM network in Canada. The V365 has excellent construction with a sturdy hinge that opens smoothly and closes positively as well as having tight, near-seamless panel gaps. Buttons and navi-ring have a nice tactile feel. Bright, well contrasted main screen and blue-lit keypad for night usage, though the external screen a bit lacking for casual observations. Rubberized housing and stark black/silver colour certainly make it masculine oriented visually. The others reviews noting loud, clear reception and sound clarity are dead on. Ditto for long battery life. Could use a few additional stock ring tones for customizing purposes, but nothings perfect. I too found the user menus to be of the "drill-all-the-way-down & reverse-all-the-way-back" variety. Have owned several phones with differing menu architecture and Motorola's is no better or worse than others (have owned Samsung, Nokia, Kyocera). Take time to get used to the system by playing around with it & check every last corner of the available files. Like any technology that is brand new to an individual user, it becomes intuitive enough after awhile. The menu "clumsiness" is balanced by allowing all 4 navi-ring positions & 2 soft keys to be customized (including showing their respective icons) to whatever feature or menu item you access on a regular basis. Some other brands only give you 2-button customization! Have not used every single feature (i.e. browser, video, MP3) and the camera is hardly portrait-quality, but at least the phone has these capabilities if you desire them. This truly is a phone that will appeal to a broad spectrum of users, but not to the 'latest & greatest' or to the 'slimmer is better' crowds. If you are looking for a solid, straight ahead phone with a variety of adequate to excellent features that does what it is advertised to do, and in one package, you could definitely do a lot worse than a Motorola V365. Highs: - sturdy construction - feels good in the hand - earpiece & speaker clarity is great (loud too!) - battery life - clear, well contrasted main screen - most of the features found on a 2009 model at Less

Great durable phone

from Amazon
I have had this phone for 2 years and it has been great. Very durable, easy to hold and doesn't slip out of your hands, and the battery lasts forever without charging. Now that my 2 years is up I need a new one and I hope I can purchase this same model again!

Bought this phone for my wife, as I was looking for a durable one that could withstand being dropped frequently. The v365 has stood up to that well, even from a ladder! But, we didnt know HOW tough it was until it went through a complete wash cycle in her jeans pocket! It came apart, mind you- the battery cover came off, the battery came out- even the sim card was loose in the wash! Boy, was she upset at the loss of her phone!Well, we dried it out for 3 days, put it back together, and to our amazement, it works fine!Call quality is as good as ever, and the speakerphone is well above average. I've had this phone for about a year and a half, and it is easily the best that I've had so far. What I like the most about it is the DURABILITY; Its been slammed/tossed/dropped etc and has not once failed. The camera functions well enough for my use (usually texting images). Internet use is a bit chunky, but I've been able use google maps well enough to direct myself around a few times. Battery life is good, I still get 3-4 days on a charge with normal use (never off). Texting is OK, though sometimes it slows when texting fast. My only dislike is the USB plug. Its akward to remove if you don't have manicured nails or a knife... Overall, if you're looking for a good, durable, cheap, depenadble work phone without all the extra junk, this is it. Less

I drained the battery completely the first couple of times I used it, I've heard that helps. 2. Easy to use, simple interface 3. Tough phone, the case is sturdy and I've never had a problem with it even after it's been dropped. 4. Speakerphone is good although some have complained about it. CONs 1. It is a bulky phone, hard to fit in your pocket sometimes 2. PTT button is to easy to push and you can't deactivate it (although it always asks if you want to turn it on, so it's not too much of a problem) 3. The alarm is a bit difficult, sometimes I'll accidentally deactivate it, and the snooze stays on that alarm until you turn it off. Overall though, if you want a basic phone with bluetooth that has great battery life and works well, this is a great value. Highly recommended. Less

Maddening operating system and menu navigation, but outside of those...

Nice little phone with a DUMB navigation scheme. You really have to wonder who believed that having to repeatedly push EXIT or BACK rather than being able to ascend to the top of the menu tree was a good idea. Nice little phone with a DUMB navigation scheme. You really have to wonder who believed that having to repeatedly push EXIT or BACK rather than being able to ascend to the top of the menu tree was a good idea. Overall a nice little phone aside from its menuing system. AT&T doesn't seem to be pushing its PTT service much at all, which is a shame. Compared to the Sony Ericcson T637 I used for years the OS on this phone is severely lacking and counterintuitive. The V365 does everything up to and including burping the baby and re-enameling the kitchen sink, but ALL I REALLY WANT IS A SIMPLE, RELIABLE PHONE, GUYS, HONEST. Packing a phone with a camera, video camera, earwax scraper, shoelace untie-er, et cetera becomes annoying after a certain level, and we passed that level in the year 1999. I don't WANT a pocket computer, I want a cell phone. Identify and imprison the engineer(s) responsible for the dumb menu structure so they can't repeat their crime. Less

First off, I'm not a big cell-phone guy. By saying that, I mean that I don't have to have the latest-greatest, all-in-one, beamed-down from the martians, wonder-gadgets that does everything except navigate your vehicle. My LG finally died so when I hit the net and did some researching for something that would best fit my needs, all roads pointed to this one. It probably does a little more than my limited-intelligence can comprehend but as far as overall performance, I couldn't be happier with it. The MP3 feature, even though I've yet to try it out, is nice to have. The volume is perfect and it always seems to get a great signal. The PTT is something I haven't messed with yet, but I will certainly be using it in the future. The button layout is great and it's refreshing for the numbers to be large enough to where I have zero trouble in dialing. The bulky design may be a little off-putting to some, but since I rarely carry it in my pocket, it's not a problem for me and I actually like that it doesn't feel like something that could easily snap in two. With that being said, I'm very happy with my purchase and would whole-heartedly reccommend the V365 to anyone who's looking for a phone that does what it's supposed to do. 10/10 Less
