no data connection after refilling account

I bought a straight talk phone and then decided to go with tracfone service, so Straight Talk rebranded my account, but after refilling my account I had no data connection. Customer service eventually corrected the problem but didn't tell me what they did. I then recently refilled the account again and now no data connection once again. No problem making or receiving calls, and plenty of data, just cannot connect.
