Informr score
The Toshiba Excite X10 currently has an Informr score of 6.6 out of 10. This score is based on our evaluation of 16 sources including reviews from users and the web's most trusted critics.

The Toshiba Excite X10 LE is one of the few 10-inch tablets available on the market with Android 3.2 Honeycomb pre-installed. It runs on a 1.2GHz processor with 1GB RAM and can have either 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage which can be expanded further with a microSD card. The most exciting thing about it is the fact that it is lighter than its predecessor, another Toshiba tablet named the Excite 10, since it weighs in at just 558 grams (19.7 ounces). Other than that, it’s just a typical 10-inch Android tablet. That’s generally a good thing, but in a sea of identical-looking rectangular portable computers with some form of Google’s open Android software, not so much.

It supports email and instant messaging services through Google Talk, with connectivity options that include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, it can’t be turned into a Wi-Fi hotspot. But one thing it can be turned into is a digital media player, with its HDMI-out port that helps it connect to any compatible HD television. It is also fitted with two cameras, with the main camera featuring a resolution of 5-megapixels and the front-facing one equipped with a 1-megapixel sensor. And before you start to think that this tablet is only focused on entertainment, you should know that its document viewer supports PDF, XLS, PPT/PPTX, and DOC/DOCX file formats, plus it has pre-installed apps like QuickOffice and Evernote for productivity on the go.

Compared to other models in the Toshiba tablet range, it offers numerous improvements. There are many reasons to like it as a tablet, but you may change your mind once you see Toshiba’s asking price. You'll find a number of similar tablets available on the market but there’s no denying that this one can hold its own and deserves to make it onto anyone’s shortlist of affordable yet great performing 10-inch tablets with Android.

What the Critics Are Saying...

Above all, we have to admit that we truly love the direction that Toshiba has gone with this tablet, as it seemingly obliterated all remnants of the Toshiba Thrive from last year that has floated around in our heads. Donning a vastly better looking design combined with some muscle flexing hardware s...

At first glance, the Toshiba Excite 10 LE seems like it could be something truly exceptional. It's sleek and lightweight, and it has a look about it that practically shouts "premium." But if you take a closer look at it, you'll find that it is, in fact, exceptionally mediocre. It has an unimpressive...

- Grant Hatchimonji, TabletPCReview

The Excite 10 LE is a great tablet that we'd have no problem recommending to a friend, but it's not a tablet that stands out in terms of performance or price. If you're considering a good-looking, lightweight tablet that offers all of the current technologies on the market today, however, the Excite...

- Jennifer Johnson, Hothardware

Once again, Toshiba produced a tablet that has most of you’d expect from from a 10-inch Android slate plus a few extras like card slots and ports. Now that it runs the latest version of the operating system and no longer suffers from pesky performance issues, it’s a viable option for buy...

The Excite LE is a decent Android tablet, but I don't think it's the best one. So far, no other Android tablet has been able to top the Asus Transformer Prime. If having the thinnest and lightest Android tablet is all you care about, then you won't be disappointed.
