Unlike the jump from the original Oasis to the 2017 model, Amazon's latest release -- the Kindle Oasis (2019) or Kindle Oasis (3rd generation) -- is more of a minor update than a major overhaul.

In fact, there are only 3 changes to be found -- but one of them could be very important to you depending on when and where you read.

Let's get the smaller ones out of the way first:

  1. The Kindle Oasis 2019 features an optimized page-turning system. While Amazon claims its the fastest ever, the Oasis 2017 was no slouch and few reviewers noticed an obvious difference.
  2. It's slightly more expensive. Which wouldn't always be a big deal, but the Oasis series has always had luxury pricing. If you're looking for a budget e-reader, the Oasis (2019) is not it.

But the big update which should interest anyone looking at the Kindle Oasis 2019 is the screen.

This is the first Kindle e-reader to feature a temperature adjustable light.

This means you can make the screen warmer (yellower) or cooler (bluer) based on your preferences. It should also help to reduce eyestrain on those late-night reading binges.

Reviewers found the lighting smooth and the adjustment capabilities nice. You can even schedule when you'd like the temperature to change so you never have to dive into the settings yourself.

Otherwise, the Kindle Oasis (2019) is identical to the Oasis (2017) -- it even supports the same accessories. What the Critics Are Saying...

The Kindle Oasis is the most premium ereader experience right now, with a large, high-quality screen, automatic brightness and even display warmth settings. However, despite all its bells and whistles, the Oasis doesn’t quite feel like it justifies its high asking price.

For $249, the Kindle Oasis provides a premium reading experience with the ability to read just about anywhere thanks to its numerous brightness settings and waterproofing. And thanks to its long battery life, it can be used as an everyday device for any book lover who doesn’t want to lug around a to...

If all you want to do is read e-Books and listen to audiobooks, the Kindle Oasis is the premium experience. But it's tough to recommend over a standard tablet, or even the cheaper Kindle models.

- Lewis White, Top Ten Reviews

The Kindle Oasis (10th gen) costs a pretty penny, and we understand why the popular opinion deems it overpriced. Sure you can get most of the specs and features on the Kindle Paperwhite 10th gen, but if you are into reading ebooks, or into reading books, shelling the extra 7K for the Oasis experienc...

The 10th generation Kindle Oasis is a small, but tangible step forward for the e-reader. It brings premium niceties like adjustable warm lighting, and faster screen refreshing to a tried and tested product. However, the subtle improvements over the Paperwhite might not be enough to justify the added...
