RIM has clearly made a departure from its usual portrait QWERTY with the addition of the BlackBerry Style (9670). A smart, attractive flip, the Style impresses immediately with its quality build materials; just holding it transmits a sense that this phone was built with quality stuff.
On closer examination, the contoured Style offers a customizable external display on the outside, and a full QWERTY keypad on the inside. In fact, once you flip open the Style, you get an immediate sense of “being at home” if you are a long-time BlackBerry user, due in part to the sculpted keys, the familiar and proprietary “send”, “end” keys, along with the dedicated BlackBerry menu button.
The internal screen boasts a 360 x 480 pixel display resolution, with a series of tabbed options running along the bottom. It’s a BlackBerry for sure. Running BlackBerry OS 6.0 with 512MB of built-in RAM and offering expandable memory via miscroSD and microSDHC up to 32GB, this is not your average flip. Not even close.
And yes, BB fans, you get a 3.5mm headphone jack input, an excellent 5MP camera with LED flash and video record, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi, even tethering capability.
Make no mistake; this little flip is a BlackBerry true and true. RIM appears to be expanding its inventory to include a sharp, powerful flip. And it’s called the Style.

- Joseph Rizzuto, Mobile SyrupOverall, the Blackberry Style is a fresh and different expansion of RIM’s already strong Blackberry line of devices. - Todd Haselton, MobileBurnThe BlackBerry Style 9670 is Sprint's first BlackBerry, and the second in the United States (the Torch 9800 on AT&T was the first), to run Research In Motion's new BlackBerry 6 operating system. It also features a unique clamshell form factor that packs in a full QWERTY keyboard. On Sprint,...
- Zach Epstein, BGRFor the younger crowd already hooked on BBM and RIM’s famous BlackBerry keyboards, the Style is a great option. Add to that Sprint’s solid network and extremely competitive rate plans, and you’re good to go. On the other hand, those who are looking for a modern, streamlined sm...
- John Biggs, TechCrunchThe odd flip-up screen is a bit too much for die-hard Blackberry users.
