What the Critics Are Saying...

Android Police

I don't think the Z Flip is a phone most people should buy, and that probably includes you. But for a subset-of-a-subset of those living on the bleeding edge, the Z Flip isn't just an obvious recommendation, it's almost a requirement. Like no phone in years, the Galaxy Z Flip is an experience, and i...

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip may be the best foldable smartphone made to date. Even if the clamshell-style form factor isn't quite as useful as something like the Galaxy Fold, the quality of the hinge and display outweighs the negatives.

The real question with the Z Flip is how much are you willing to compromise in exchange for novelty? For many people, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will meet their requirements in battery, camera and power, providing something unique that looks great; but for the gamers, enthusiasts and power users, the...

The Galaxy Z Flip is the best foldable phone I've ever used.  Samsung has done most things right with the Z Flip's design, creating a foldable phone that's fun to wield and practical enough for everyday life.

Common Questions

Samsung released the Galaxy Z Flip on February 14, 2020.

The Galaxy Z Flip price will vary depending on retailer, age, special offers and whether or not it's purchased with a service plan. If purchased with a 2 year service contract for example, you would likely pay much less for the phone itself up front. You can compare Samsung Galaxy Z Flip prices from around the web here on The Informr.

Samsung backs up the Galaxy Z Flip with a 1 Year parts & labour warranty.

If your Galaxy Z Flip has problems and is still within its warranty period, you could contact Samsung support or the retailer you purchased the phone from. You'll find Samsung's contact information here. If your phone is off warranty and needs repair for a physical problem such as a broken screen or bad battery, you should visit an authorized service centre or a local phone repair shop. The weird and wonderful foldable

The Galaxy Z Flip takes a modern smartphone shape, and lets you fold it in half. It features a folding glass cover/display, a decent camera, flagship specs and decent battery life. There are compromises aplenty, namely in price and potential screen fragility, but this foldable gets closer than any prior to being a well-rounded phone.

At the same time, if you’re willing to spend that kind of cash for this type of device, odds are that you’re more intrigued about the novelty of a foldable smartphone than you are about cold hard specs.

The main draw here is the design: The Z Flip feels like a perfectly normal smartphone while open and folds down to half size when closed. But unlike Motorola’s Razr, which also embraced the classic flip phone look, the Z Flip packs a flexible dual camera system, a high-performance processor, the latest version of Android and a slightly better battery. If you can’t help yourself and need a foldable in your life, this is the best you’ll find. Just remember that buying any foldable right now is a gamble -- they have more potential points of failure.

The first foldable phone worth caring about

from Gizmodo

Now I’m not saying anyone should spend $1,400 on a phone. I bought one because I was morbidly curious and wanted to test how the Z Flip and Samsung’s ultra-thin glass holds up over time. But after having one for just shy of a week, the big takeaway is that the Z Flip proves foldable phones are much more than a fad.
