The "1-Minute" Review
The Realme 8 and the Realme 8 5G are two new budget-friendly phones on the market in 2021. Both are fairly affordable and reliable phones, so how do they differ exactly? Let’s look at how the baseline Realme 8 stacks up next to the 8 5G.
- No 5G
- 64MP camera
- Offers fast charging
- 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with full HD
- MediaTek Helio G95 chipset
- On-screen fingerprint scanner
What’s the Same
- The same amount of RAM
- Android 11
- MicroSD expandable storage
- 16MP front-facing camera
- Realme UI
- Headphone jack
- Mono speaker
While the differences are fairly small between the two phones, they make the phones suited for specific types of users. The Realme 8 is geared towards higher performance and better visuals whilst leaving out 5G support, whereas the Realme 8 5G is all about 5G capability and affordability.
Tech Radar says, “The Realme 8 has a look that won't appeal to everyone, but under the hood, there’s some quality performance for the price, in terms of the power, screen, battery, and cameras. It's just a shame there's no 5G.”
Tech Advisor states, “The Realme 8 offers a welcome balance of features that should suit most users, making it the jack-of-all-trades of budget phones.”
