What the Critics Are Saying...

DxOMark

The Nokia 7.2 is a fairly affordable mid-ranger, so you would not expect flagship front camera performance, but better options are available even at its price point. The Nokia is capable of decent image and video results in good conditions, but quality drops off in low light, and there are too many...

Absolute Geeks

The Nokia 7.2 is an excellent device for the low-medium priced segment and does many things well. I would even recommend it over some flagships based on the user experience alone however the hardware has room for improvement.

HMD Global does a lot right with the Nokia 7.2, but the smartphone shows some weaknesses in detail in some areas. Nevertheless, the Nokia 7.2 is a very successful further development compared to its predecessor, because a lot has happened especially in terms of battery life and the memory has also b...

As a normal Android smartphone, it’s absolutely acceptable in this price range. The capacitive fingerprint scanner on the back works better than Face ID and in-screen fingerprint scanners. The battery life is average. The performance is tolerable. However, the Nokia 7.2 would be a really good buy if...

The Nokia 7.2 has most of the features we've enjoyed in HMD Global's phones this year, but with so much competition at its price point, there's not much here to make it a compelling option.

If your 7.2 has problems and is still within its warranty period, you could contact Nokia support or the retailer you purchased the phone from. You'll find Nokia's contact information here. If your phone is off warranty and needs repair for a physical problem such as a broken screen or bad battery, you should visit an authorized service centre or a local phone repair shop. The Nokia 7.2 is a fairly affordable mid-ranger, so you would not expect flagship front camera performance, but better options are available even at its price point. The Nokia is capable of decent image and video results in good conditions, but quality drops off in low light, and there are too many issues overall, including exposure and color instabilities as well as a range of artifacts, to merit recommending the 7.2 to any passionate selfie shooter.

HMD Global does a lot right with the Nokia 7.2, but the smartphone shows some weaknesses in detail in some areas. Nevertheless, the Nokia 7.2 is a very successful further development compared to its predecessor, because a lot has happened especially in terms of battery life and the memory has also been spiced up considerably. And for those who value a pure Android experience, there is no way around the Nokia phone in this price range, as it is equipped with Android One.

This phone should make Moto nervous

Nokia is attacking the low to mid-range of the device market with quality handsets at the sub-$300 price tag — and it’s doing it better than Moto in my mind. To me, the overall hardware and camera experience is better on almost all the Nokia phones I’ve tested when compared to Moto. The same is true here with the Nokia 7.2 which lines up nicely against the Moto G7. Pair that with a better outlook for OS updates and Nokia has a winning combination in the Nokia 7.2 smartphone.

The only reason we recommend this handset is because of it being a premium-ish Android One device where you can get updates for the next three years and also be one of the first smartphones to receive Google’s big Android releases. If this is all you care about, then the Nokia 7.2 is the handset for you. If not, then there are several other options out there which offer a lot more bang for your buck at a much better price than the Nokia 7.2.

I love and support Nokia – great build, iconic brand – and generally, most models have been at the top of the class. The Nokia 7.2 is not a bad phone – but it is not what I expect from Nokia.

The Nokia 7.2 is a critical smartphone from HMD Global. The Finnish company seems to be betting a lot on the success of its latest mid-range smartphone in India, but I think the phone fell short on performance. While I do like the Nokia 7.2’s classic design and display, the phone does make compromises and the list is long. I wish the phone had a better processor and at least 6GB RAM on an entry-level model. The camera could have been better.

The Nokia 7.2 is a smartphone for the kind of user who wants a fun, feature-rich camera to play around with but does not really need the best quality results from their shots. Add to that, this customer must be willing to sacrifice everyday performance, be willing to forget about the most demanding games, and not mind charging their phone every eight or nine hours. Does that consumer really exist in 2019? I'm not so sure.
