Informr score
The Motorola v635 currently has an Informr score of 7.7 out of 10. This score is based on our evaluation of 33 sources including reviews from users and the web's most trusted critics.

The Motorola V635 was released for sale in Canada in May of 2005. It is a GSM quad-band world-phone (800/900/1800/1900mhz), which means it works almost everywhere except Japan. It’s sold by Rogers Wireless in Canada and various European and Asian carriers. The V635 was tested on the Rogers, as well as roaming on the Fido, Cingular, and T-Mobile networks in the Greater Vancouver, Canada area.

Dimensions & Design

The Motorola V635 is quite similar to other Motorola flip phones recently released on the market. It is based on the original design of the Motorola V600, but much nicer and many more features. It weighs about 134g (4.71oz) and has the dimensions 8.9 x 4.9 x 2.5 cm (3.50” x 1.93” x 0.98”) (H x W x D).

The first thing I noticed was how nice the screen was. This phone has the BEST screen I’ve ever used.

The design is elegant and most people really like the look of it; shiny metal and black go well together.

The phone takes a Transflash card, which goes into the slot beside the external colour display. This allows you to add up to 512MB of extra memory which can be used to store files, mp3s, pictures, or whatever you like.

The external 4k colour screen was quite nice. It was not spectacular, but it was easy to read in all lighting conditions.

The megapixel camera on this phone is quite good. The pictures looked clear on both the device’s screens and my computer monitor, especially when reduced to 640x480 or 320x240.

Note: The inside bright is similar to outside bright.

Coverage & RF

As I mentioned earlier, this is a quad-band GSM world-phone (850/900/1800/1900mhz) that will work not only within North America, but also in most countries in the world.

The phone was able to pick up a signal fairly well in weak areas and was better then my V300. It was almost as good as my Nokia 3595--The RF King.

Sound Quality

This phone’s incoming and outgoing sound quality is excellent. You get a little transmitter buzz sometimes using a 2.5mm headset for some reason. I tried the OEM and Belkin headset to get rid of the buzz, but neither worked to fix the noise.

Wireless Data, Web Browser, Email & Organiser

This phone supports CLASS-6 EDGE, which is the current standard for data on GSM based networks. Using this phone's web browser for anything was quite annoying. It doesn’t really work at all with HTML. If you use sites designed for a mobile phone, such as ones that support WAP or WML, the phone browser works fine, but scrolling is slow.

The email client was very good on this phone. Although it uses up data which could be quite costly, it can be handy if you're on the go. The organiser also worked very well.

One of the cooler things about this phone is when you hook it up, via cables to your computer, it allows you to view the contents on your phone just like an external hard drive. This is done wihout drivers or any custom software!

Battery

Should last you 2-3 days without problems.

Overall

This is a good device for someone who wants a nice phone with a megapixel camera, mp3 player, good email client, and a great organiser. In a sentence: it’s a great phone.
