This phone is the best of the military grade iden network models. I also own the i325 and have owned the i305 and they are all basically the same. This phone has great reception, excellent volume and tone, poor battery life, limited features, and is extremely durable. The screen is easier to read than the i325, and having the antennae stowed away is more comfortable than the fixed one on the i325. My i315 and i325 get sprayed with water frequently, covered in dust, dropped, cooked in the desert sun, you name it basically and they operate just like new, just a little uglier though. I tried one of the fancy flip motorola models that they have "ruggedized" and there is no comparison with the i315 group of phones in terms of reception and durability. I returned the flip phone to the vendor in the first week because it didn't work in rural locations, had limited volume range, and had even less battery life than the i315. The i315 is an ugly, heavy, and limited feature phone that ALWAYS works as long as the battery has a charge. I highly recommend the i315 phone to contractors, surveyors, miners, and other professionals who are outdoors all the time and don't get many calls, but need a phone with them for important calls and emergencies. Get the i325 through your employer if you are a fireman, police officer, ambulance... because it is a little better than the i315 for reception in extreme situations. And finally, don't use the iden system at all if you are an indoor type city person who isn't going to be part of a direct connect network because these phones are pretty boring unless all you want to do with them is receive an important call. Not great

This is a normal mike phone only it doesn''t last. With in 6 months a third of the calls were dropped as well as this phone has a tendency to lock up and you have to remove the battery to reset it.
