What the Critics Are Saying...

The Honor 9X Pro is a beautifully designed phone with a powerful processor. The camera, while basic in its performance, is far better than any other competitor’s at this price point. Retailing at £250, this could be a winner for a young audience but the big catch is the lack of Google Play support.

For the price, the Honor 9X Pro is good value with great performance, a decent camera, a big screen, and a long-lasting battery. However, slow battery charging, a bulky shape, and app availability let it down. Although this is a situation Honor can’t solve very quickly, it really should do something...

The Honor 9X Pro continues the known direction of the manufacturer consistently, but has to make do without Google Services. The hardware offers more than enough performance for most applications, and the generous amount of internal storage prevents fears of running out of storage. A noble attempt

from Digital Trends

For the price, the Honor 9X Pro is good value with great performance, a decent camera, a big screen, and a long-lasting battery. However, slow battery charging, a bulky shape, and app availability let it down. Although this is a situation Honor can’t solve very quickly, it really should do something about the out-of-date software.

If Google apps are something you need, and you don't want to mess with forcefully installing Play Services, then maybe this is not a device for you. If you don't use many apps in general, and don't need Google apps, the HONOR 9X Pro is a great choice. For its price tag, this phone offers a lot, it really does. It offers excellent performance, great hardware in general, it looks really sleek, and the camera is not half bad at that price point either. The display is also really good, while the audio won't win any awards, but it's okay. For many people, this phone will be more than they need, just have in mind the app situation before you buy it.

The Honor 9X Pro is a relatively minor upgrade to its predecessor, which was an already-decent phone. Performance is solid and the camera is one of the best in its price point. But one can’t avoid the inconvenience of being without the Play Store. Ultimately, the worth of this phone will fluctuate depending on how effective Huawei is at getting more developers to sign on to the AppGallery.

To be honest, the HONOR 9X Pro might be our choice if the Huawei AppGallery had a better list of games or apps. Nonetheless we believe that the Huawei AppGallery will get more great game developers soon and when it does it will really shine as a midrange gaming smartphone. Even now, the 6GB RAM and 256GB offers plenty of value for those who like to download and play huge GB sized games. Something that you'll rarely see in most phones around the HONOR 9X Pro's RM999 price tag.
