The Sony Ericsson W380 is an edgy clamshell. No, I’m not talking attitude. It actually has real edges, which is a departure from the most clamshells.
The W380 is the mid-range “Walkman” logoed model of a three model collection produced by Sony Ericsson. This Tri-band flip features a camera, internal 1.9 inch TFT display and, happily, large haptic keys that are spacious, especially for the clamshell. There are also touch sensitive music keys on the outside front of the phone.
While this phone does not excel against some of its competitors, it is nonetheless a sturdy option for young people on a budget who insist on a music player.
Another interesting and clever feature of Sony’s Walkman line is its new Gesture Control system. For example, if you wave your hand in front of the camera lens it will activate the snooze feature. The W380 also runs on the identical OS used in the W880, which presents clean and easily understood screens and somewhat intuitive controls.
If you are looking for a solid flip with good sound quality and a decent music player, take a look at the Sony Ericsson W380.
