The HTC Evo View 4G is a sneaky device which manages to live its life as a tablet, while maintaining the appearance of a smartphone. This unit's compact screen is a mere 7 inches. This makes it perfect for tucking into a large pocket or a purse. For tablet users who are constantly on the go, the tiny View 4G may represent a perfect match.

The "4G" in the Evo View's name means that the tablet can connect to Sprint's 4G data network. This is handy for frequent travelers who need fast access to web content wherever they may roam. Of course, connecting directly to W-Fi is also an option, as this tablet is 802.11b/g/n compliant.

The Evo View has 1GB of RAM to help it zip around its Android 2.3 operating system. Although it is expected that this unit would run on Google's Honeycomb operating system, the Evo View keeps up its spy tactics. That's right, this unit truly is a smartphone in disguise! Saving music, videos, important documents and pictures is a stress-free endeavor with 32GB of internal memory. For a limited time, Sprint is bundling this tablet with a unit specific stylus. Using the stylus for navigation through the tablet's interface is not possible, but it does allow the user to write notes, sign documents and draw doodles during boring meetings.

For fun activities outside of the life of meetings and business jargon, the Evo View features two cameras. First, there is the front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera which is perfect for posting Wednesday morning pictures to Tumblr and Twitter. Second, there is a 5 megapixel camera on the back of the unit for pictures of friends, cats or both. Overall, the Evo View 4G is a solid portable tablet with relatively beefy specs that might make some laptops feel embarrassed.

A good tablet with solid battery life and good portability.

This is one solid tablet. Usually Android 2.x tablet are not that great when it comes to the user experience. HTC uses Sense UI here to create that experience necessary. One advantage of it being Android 2.3 is that there are way more apps available for it than Android 3.0 but the downside is that all... More

An enjoyable, nice, small tablet that could have been truly compelling if it had a bigger screen

Craig Froehle from The Gadgeteer (about 1 year ago)

Overall, using the EVO View was enjoyable. It never seemed slow or laggy, and it’s been quite stable and well-behaved. Battery life has been very good…almost as good as the 7″ Galaxy Tab’s (which is stellar). Generally, I had no complaints about the hardware other than the weight.... More

The View 4G is a well-designed, high-quality piece of hardware and the Sense UI is good enough to almost make you forget that Honeycomb exists. It's packed full of features and the pricing is definitely reasonable, although I'm not in love with having to get a new mobile data contract. If you want your... More
