Jawbone made waves with the introduction of their original Jambox and since then has released a more portable version with the MINI JAMBOX. Measuring in at a diminutive 58 x 154 x 24.5mm (2.3 x 6.1 x 0.9 inches) and weighing only 255 grams, it is half the width of its predecessor and one of the smallest mini Bluetooth speakers available. Despite its small size, experts still found it a bit difficult to fit in their pockets comfortably. Engadget states, "Yes, it's a much smaller speaker, but unless you're wearing cargo pants, you'll want to toss it in your bag."

Cast from a single piece of anodized aluminum, the MINI comes in nine different colors and five different grill patterns. Buttons are fairly sparse with only a volume, play/pause and power and pairing on top of the device. You can pair up to 8 devices with two of them connected simultaneously. For those without Bluetooth enabled devices, it comes equipped with a 3.5mm audio input. Critics were quite happy with the overall look and feel of the device though were a bit disappointed that they could not angle the speakers at all and by its susceptibility to damage.

For a small speaker, most reviewers concede that the MINI delivers a satisfactory sound experience. While they note that it can't deliver wall shaking bass, they were generally happy with the low-end range. Unfortunately, some mid-range distortion was noticed at higher volumes with Trusted Reviews noting, "…it's ugly enough to make you need to turn the volume down to the 80 per cent mark." Top volume in general was not impressive. Aside from the distortion, most reviewers warn that this is neither a room-filling speaker nor great for outdoors use.

Recommendations were fairly divided for Jawbone's MINI. CNET commends the device saying, "…while the Mini Jambox may not sound superb, it's the best-sounding micro Bluetooth speaker I've encountered." PCMag on the other hand states, "If you want the best portable Bluetooth speaker we've tested...deal with the extra heft for the Bose SoundLink Mini.”
