Useful for everything from cooking instructions to home security

I'm increasingly happier with the Hub Max in my home, especially now that I'm stuck here 24/7. The 10-inch screen is its best feature, especially in the kitchen, as it's dead-simple to follow bread-making videos. The camera is a close second, but if none of its capabilities are enticing, then the cheaper smart display is the one to get, or a simpler, screenless smart speaker like the Nest Mini.

A great device

from TheCanadianTechie

The Nest Hub Max is a great device that is a good compliment to Google’s smart home lineup with a bigger screen, camera and a visual way to interact with the Google Assistant.

Bigger, better and smarter display

from The Guardian

While a price of £219 is in line with competitors of this size, it’s still fairly expensive when 7in versions can frequently be bought for less than £100. But if you’re looking for the smartest, most useful smart display, the Nest Hub Max is it.

With onboard Google Assistant, easy-on-the-eyes Ambient EQ display technology, a built-in Nest camera, and impressive sound, the $230 Google Nest Hub Max makes for one of the most compelling smart displays we’ve tested.

Stuff

This is a model smart display, even if a few parts still need a tweak or two

You can’t play Amazon Prime Video or Netflix on the Google Nest Hub Max. The second may come in time, the first probably won’t. Google’s haste to add Nest support has also led to a security cam feature that’s a bit wobbly too. However, buy-in knowing this is a bit of a work-in-progress and you’ll be happy. It also does plenty to keep you entertained already, from letting you know just how wet your shoes will get on the way to work, to playing tunes with the same panache as some wireless speakers around the same price.

As a smart display, the Nest Hub Max doesn’t make a particularly strong argument for why you should pay a premium for the better option but if you’re already committed towards going for something bigger, it makes a strong case itself as the obvious choice.

Good Gear Guide

A beefier version of last year's Google Home Hub

from Good Gear Guide

The Google Nest Hub Max isn’t bad but it is a little obvious. The Ambient

Good smart display, so-so security camera

from The Ambient

The Nest Hub Max is bigger, but not necessarily better than the original Nest Hub. It makes great use of the camera, with some nice personalization features. As a Nest camera, it works perfectly fine, but it's odd that this feels largely siloed from the core Hub experience.

Tech Advisor

The best smart display around

from Tech Advisor

It might only be available in two colours but Google has brought the two things we asked for to the Nest Hub Max - a larger screen and a camera. That camera can do a lot more than make video calls, too and we have very little to complain about with this smart display.
