The Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III is the latest in a popular line of good-looking, great-sounding, and high-quality bluetooth speakers from Bose. It may not have much going for it in terms of unique qualities, but most expert reviews are quick to say that it doesn't get drowned out in a sea of competition.

Its portability will let you take it pretty much anywhere you like -- it measures 4 x 25 cm (1.5 x 9.84 in.) so it can fit easily into almost any backpack. It also has a rechargeable battery that can last up to 14 hours. According to Mike Kobrin of Tom's Guide, this is one aspect where it has definitely improved significantly on the previous model.

Speaking of which, Darren Orf from Popular Mechanics says that the SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker III's "two-tone gray appearance is just boring," although it looks more sleek when you compare it to the last one. It can also be used with add-on accessory covers that cost extra money. These are fine for changing colors quickly but on the whole, they apparently seem more like an afterthought than something that was included in the original design plans.

When it comes to audio performance, the III doesn’t disappoint. Nick Guy from iLounge says that the volume level is quite acceptable, it can fill a small room with sound, and that there’s very little sound distortion. Their review ends with the following: “it’s a very nice sounding speaker with looks to match.”

Most expert reviews express the same sentiment. The SoundLink III is a tad on the pricey side but reviews indicate its worth it if you value higher quality industrial design, portability, and sound quality. Cnet’s David Carnoy said it best when he called it “The Lexus of Bluetooth speakers.” An easy product to recommend if you can afford it he says.
