- Heavy – 1.6 pounds
- Some features don’t work as well without S Pen
The 12.2" Samsung Galaxy TabPRO offers a similar experience to the Galaxy NotePRO with the exception of the S Pen. The large screen offers a resolution of 2560 x 1600 LCD display and, like the NotePRO, weighs in at 1.6 pounds.
While most reviewers find the tablet too heavy and large to hold with one hand, V3 notes that the tablet's ergonomic design helps to keep it from being too unwieldy. Despite its weight, most reviewers enjoyed having the extra screen real estate for reading and editing documents and spreadsheets.
One of the biggest changes to Samsung's new line of tablets is the updated User Interface – Magazine UX. Pocket Lint lauds the new UI, noting that the new tiles approach gives users more information than the previous UI. In addition, the newest feature, Multi Window, allows users to run four apps on the screen at the same. Unfortunately, due to the absence of the S pen, many experts found that some of the apps, such as S Note, were awkward to use.
When looking at hardware, the TabPRO 12.2" offers 2.3GHz quad-core processor for the LTE version of the tablet, 3 GB of RAM, up to 64GB of internal storage and a large 9,500mAh battery. GSMArena notes that the processor keeps up effortlessly with the new UI and opens apps without any lag whatsoever.
Overall, most critics have a positive impression and enjoy the multi-tasking features and larger screen real estate despite its weight. Still, sources like Android Central are unconvinced that there is a mass market for a 12.2" screen despite its added functionality.
