The Wirecutter

A more fitness-focused option

We like the Gear Sport's dial-based interface, and it pushes you to move more, but don't expect great apps or voice functions.

Firstpost

A smartwatch to go for if you are not invested in the Apple ecosystem

If you are looking for an alternative to the Watch, I would suggest the Gear Sport over the many Android Wear or Wear OS sporting watches out there. Yes, there are limitations due to the Tizen OS 3.0 but that does not mar the overall experience.

TechENT

Fitness meets style

The Samsung Gear Sport is an awesome smartwatch which allows you to take a better glance at your habits and improve your health. That said, it can afford to improve on the compatibility front. Performance of the smartwatch was smooth with little to no stutters. All in all its worth the money spent even if you're not a health junkie.

Ars Technica

The only fitness watch for Samsung die-hards

from Ars Technica

One of the strongest fitness devices available to connect to an Android smartphone today. It's a no-brainer for Samsung smartphone users who want a do-it-all wearable, and non-Samsung Android users should seriously consider the Gear Sport if they can deal with having a few more Samsung apps on their smartphone than they might like.

The Indian Express

Geared towards fitness tracking

from The Indian Express

The Gear Sport is designed for those who are looking for a wearable to track their daily fitness activities and it supports a range of activities, including swimming. However, it is still a fairly bulky smartwatch, so it might not suit those with a slender frame.

Smaller and more comfortable

If you've always wanted a wearable that looks like a traditional watch, the Gear Sport is a fantastic choice – more so if you use a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Samsung's choice to go with its own Tizen OS means that the Gear Sport is severely lacking in useful third-party apps.

Even though it’s not a huge leap forward from its predecessor, it has some good features that do things decently, if not perfectly.

The Samsung Gear Sport may be marketed as a fitness smartwatch but has all the features of a regular smartwatch as well. Overall, it’s an excellent choice for those looking for a well-rounded smartwatch solution with plenty of apps and multi-day battery life.
