Even though it’s quite unique as a Wear OS smartwatch that caters for more serious outdoors activity, and it’s definitely rugged enough to withstand a lot of ‘adventure’, there are too many flaws to justify the $500/£450 price tag, particularly when there are other watches (though not fully smart) snapping at its heels in terms of features.
Aside from its Android Wear capabilities, the Pro Trek’s strongest appeal rests with its bevy of outdoor features. Featuring a compass, altimeter, barometer, and tide graph, the watch affords a wealth of useful information right on your wrist — and helps consolidate the amount of equipment one might usually tote while outside.

If, then, you're looking for a smart, solid partner for your Android watch - one that won't complain if it gets bashed around - the WSD-F20 isn't a terrible choice. It takes the best bits of Android Wear 2.0, squeezes them into a massive, solid shell and sprinkles in a few outdoors-y extras to boot. As a dedicated outdoor tracker to rival the likes of Garmin's Foreunner 935 or Fenix 5, though, it simply can't compete.
It's fast, fluid, responsive and very feature-rich, but still feels like it's missing something. Not being able to dig in to your statistics and summary of your last exercise once you've dismissed the notification card seems like an obvious flaw.

If you can live with something that can get through a day’s worth of outdoor pursuits, and you like its bulky, rugged looks then it might have some appeal. We think your money might be best being spent elsewhere, though.

The Casio WSD-F20 is one of the best “true” smartwatches on the market that’s also a great hiking tool. Offline maps, decent custom tracker interfaces and great ruggedisation all add serious appeal. And ‘standalone’ GPS makes this a major upgrade over the original WSD-F10 too.

Android Wear 2.0 is present, meaning the watch is very responsive and takes advantage of the new OS to bring its advanced features to the fore. At $500 it’s pretty expensive, but then again for what it offers it’s a better choice for the outdoors when compared to the Apple Watch or Samsung’s Gear S3.
