The Amazfit GTR looks really nice and its large screen is beautiful. The thing is pretty lightweight and you’ll hardly feel it on your wrist. The watch doesn’t look or feel overly sporty and it’s perfectly appropriate to wear even in a business setting. The battery life is also super impressive and the whole package comes in at a much lower price than its rivals.

If spending time away from the large screen without missing out on basic media options is what you’re after, you can perhaps, consider buying the Amazfit Verge or wait for the Stratos 3 to be launched in your region.

I personally felt this watch is good for the price tag it comes with, especially the premium feel and the materials used. The stainless steel frame with leather makes it look more premium than expected, it is very attractive. But again, it also had issues with GPS and failed to track some of my outdoor activities like walking, running or cycling, all because of one reason (Failed to track last activity, due to GPS failure). Failed tracking is loss of data and that’s inexcusable.

A solid recommendation overall

The GTR proves you can make a solid middle-ground choice work. Now, it's just a matter of striking the exact balance for the widest possible appeal. Honestly, the GTR came pretty close in our book. The GTR proves you can make a solid middle-ground choice work. Now, it's just a matter of striking the exact balance for the widest possible appeal. Honestly, the GTR came pretty close in our book. That being said, there is still plenty of room for refinement. Software, especially, sticks out as a long-standing sore point for Huami. A company that has otherwise proven time and time again it can delivery properly designed, quality hardware.

Smartwatches aren't for everyone. Watches are an accessory which many people tend to have though. And if you want a fitness tracker but also wear a watch, you may as well get the Amazfit GTR. You will probably get just as good of battery life while using the same functions that a fitness tracker will offer. Plus you'll get the benefits that trackers won't offer. Like the big, bright, AMOLED display and the stylish design that looks more like a regular watch than it looks like a piece of technology.

If you can’t bear the design and small display on the Mi Smart Band 4 and want something that looks like a conventional watch, the Amazfit GTR is a good option, to begin with. The GPS, of course, does make tracking workouts more accurate, not by a whole lot though. If there was support for third-party apps or even the ability to reply to messages an notifications, the conclusion could have been drastically different, but for now, it’s just very hard to deny that the Mi Smart Band 4 is just a much better value offering.

It's a good watch with smart features, but isn’t a great “smartwatch”

from Deccan Chronicle

The watch does offer more than the usual fitness tracker but lacks signature features that you expect from smartwatches. The watch does offer more than the usual fitness tracker but lacks signature features that you expect from smartwatches. Even though the price of the Amazfit GTR 42mm is just Rs 9,999, it ends up feeling a little bit overpriced for the features it offers. That being said if you don’t need a proper smartwatch, and want a good looking, light, watch that offers basic functionality along with fitness tracking abilities, notification support, and good battery life as far as watch-shaped wearables go, the Amazfit GTR 42mm is a good option at Rs 9999.

Smartwatch with the best battery life

The Amazfit GTR is a good, stylish smartwatch option for those who want to wear something for work as well as workouts. The lack of an app ecosystem is a bit of an issue, but you will not miss much.
