In 2012 Sennheiser released their Momentum over-the-ear headphones, which was positively received by reviewers and audiophiles alike. The Momentum On-Ears is the smaller version of the original and shares the many of the same design cues. Rather than leather, Sennheiser opted for faux suede accents along the stainless steel band. The actual earpieces can be adjusted along the band via a multi-position rocker at the joint of the cup that should, in essence, conform to any head shape. CNET notes, however, that "each head is different, and some people may have an issue with their fit."

In terms of overall comfort, most reviewers were quite happy with the ear pressure and weight. The only gripe for many is that it doesn't fold up into a more compact package, unlike many other similarly priced headphones.

Performance is typically where Sennheiser excels, whether it's with their regular speakers or headphones. The Momentum On-Ears are no exception. Critics praise its accuracy and ability to balance out the high, mid and low ends for each song, though they add that the headphones tend to accentuate the bass. Digital Trends adds, "The Momentum had a way of exposing the subtler details in music by separating each instrument with clean precision…" While sound quality is good, experts were disappointed by noise isolation as it does little to block out ambient noise.

Overall, reviewers highly recommend the Momentum over other on-ear headphones. Trusted Reviews states, "The…headphones look good, sound good and feel good…" Inner Fidelity adds, "The Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear strikes a remarkably excellent balance between sound quality…, styling, comfort and build quality…strongly recommend."
