Good noise cancelling and improved sound, but snug fit isn’t the most comfortable

There’s a lot to love about the Beats Solo Pro, particularly if you’re an iPhone owner. They offer a lovely design, good noise cancelling, an energetic, detailed performance and outstanding usability. However, while we know Apple is keen to make wireless the way to listen to music, the lack of cable to listen to these wired if you’re out of battery is frustrating. Plus that fit is still far too snug to be comfortable enough for long listens.

Killer headphones with one major flaw

If I had to sum the Solo Pro up in one sentence, I’d say that they’re an on-ear version of the AirPods Pro. If I had to sum the Solo Pro up in one sentence, I’d say that they’re an on-ear version of the AirPods Pro. They have the same H1 audio chip as AirPods Pro, as well as Active Noise Cancelling and Transparency Mode options. They instantly pair with Apple devices, too (pairing with other devices is the standard affair—put them in pairing mode, choose them from the list on your device, etc. etc.). As I said, if you’re looking for what adds up to an on-ear version of the AirPods Pro, this is as good as it gets—just be aware that they’re a tight fit so you may have to let your ears rest every half hour or so while wearing them.

What separates the Solo Pro from other systems is that it comes with Pure ANC technology. It is an innovation that elevates conventional Active Noise Cancelling technologies further. Not only does it block unwanted external noise, but the technology also adapts to the fit of the headphones to preserve the exceptional quality of its audio. It also features advanced Transparency technology. It allows you to maintain your situational awareness while listening to your music.

Caught between AirPods Pro and hard place

from Cnet

If you can overlook the cable omission and somewhat high price tag aside, the Beats Solo Pro are an appealing headphone. They have an attractive, streamlined design and more premium look and feel than the Beats Solo3 Wireless. They also sound better than that model.

Too close for comfort

from PCWorld

By making every other part of the package feel exceptional enough, the familiar problems that plague the Solo Pro become the sort of inconveniences that you’re willing to live with rather than outright deal breakers.

The best Beats headphones to date

from GeekSpin

The Beats Solo Pros look like Beats headphones, but feel, sound, and work like Apple headphones. Together the two brands have struck true headphone harmony. The Solo Pros might just have the best active noise canceling on the market, and they offer incredible rich and balanced audio.

Style meets noise cancelling

from finder.com.au

The Beats Solo Pro are great looking headphones, and the audio output is mostly sweet, but the much lauded noise cancellation feature is a little on the weak side.

Walkaround wireless sound that stands out

While there is at least one or two questionable choices with the Beats Solo Pro, these headphones are a delightful turnaround for a company that once touted sound the way the artist intended, and delivered a result far from it. Now in 2019, Beats is hitting that target, and artists should be more delighted with what’s on offer. To Beats’ credit, it was already getting close, but now the quality is up to where it should be, and you may end up hearing parts of the file you’ve never heard before thanks to that focus on high-end sound.

Noise-cancelling is uniquely effective for on-ear headphones. Unfortunately, comfort is an issue after an hour. If you can push beyond the pain, the Solo Pro may very well be worth it.

Five-star sound with a few flaws

from iMore

The Solo Pro is defitely a pro upgrade from the Beats Solo 3 with better material, H-1 chip support, and of course, noise-cancelling. The EQ balance is much better for the majority of listeners, but if you're used to the heavy sound of the Beats Curve, you're going to notice the drop in bass sound with these Pros.
