As a smartphone, the Galaxy S10 Lite is a powerhouse. It is a swift performer and offers a long-lasting battery life. The super-steady OIS mode is indeed effective and will come handy for videographers. However, the smartphone lags behind the competition in several departments.

The Galaxy S10 Lite acts like a flagship device with a high starting price tag but fails to deliver in some key areas in which the "flagship killers" have it all. Overall, it's a great phone but it's not particularly competitive at its launch price and at this particular point in time.

Well, for one, it has a flat screen, so you might prefer the Lite if you don’t like Samsung’s signature edge screens. It provides a larger display area for less money, if you compare it directly against the Galaxy S10 phones. It also has a different camera module, leveraging Samsung’s new stabilization system, which eventually made it to the S20 series. But it doesn’t have a telephoto lens, so if that matters to you — look for a Galaxy S10 instead.

The Galaxy S10 Lite is a powerhouse and is no less than the SD855 Plus backed rival devices (OnePlus 7T and Realme X2 Pro) in terms of general day-to-day performance and gameplay. The smartphone lacks a 90Hz display which is a slight bummer; however, it still manages to compensate for the loss by offering a super vivid AMOLED panel. The long-lasting battery life is another positive aspect of the Galaxy S10 Lite.

Taken on its own merit this is an accomplished phone. But when lined up against the other three S10 models in the range, it just feels confused. The Lite is larger than all the others, has a greater battery capacity than any of them, an equally heavyweight Snapdragon 855 processor as the other three, and even some features than the 'not-Lite' models lack, such as the main 48MP camera unit. So it's a potentially great phone, just one that arrives at the wrong time and with a confusing name attached to it.
