If you don’t like the default Android keyboard, there are plenty of different options that you can choose from. There’s no use in having all of these different options, however, if you can’t install the keyboard onto your Android device. Not sure how? Not to fear, all you have to do is follow these 5 easy steps. You'll be trying out an alternative keyboard in no time!

    Find Your Preferred Keyboard in Google Play.

    Go to to Google Play store and look for the different types of keyboards. Find the one you want to try and then download and install the app.

    Go to the Language and Keyboard Setting

    Do NOT open up your keyboard app. Instead go to Menu>Settings and then scroll down to the language and keyboard section and open that. Scroll down and you’ll see a section for the Keyboard Settings containing all of the keyboards that you have installed.

    Choose Your Keyboard

    In the Keyboard Settings, you’ll notice that the keyboard you downloaded is not checked off. Check off the keyboard you wish to use. You will then receive a notice that choosing the keyboard could log your keystrokes.

    Choose Keyboard Settings

    Each keyboard will have slightly different settings, however most give you the option of choosing the input language, sound, settings and voice input keys, auto correction and advanced settings. Choose the settings that you want.

    Activate Keyboard

    Go to any text field and long press the field. This will pop different actions, one of which is input method. Press that and you will get a list of all the active keyboards you can use. Click on the one that you want to use and you have activated your new keyboard.

It may take some time to find the right keyboard to suit your needs, but installing and activating it doesn’t have to be a hassle.

Once you already have the keyboards installed properly you can easily switch back and forth between each one by simply going to the input method and choosing the keyboard you want.
