With smartphones becoming more technologically advanced, there are plenty of opportunities for game developers to push the limits in mobile game technology. Not only are these games as addicting and snappy as ever, they're also becoming more visually stimulating, while maintaining their accessibility. It's no secret that there are some very impressive mobile games out there -- some developers provide a more graphically realistic flair, while others look for a more unique, stylistic approach -- but each find their own way of both establishing their own vision while visually enticing mobile gamers. If you're keen on finding some of those game gems, or simply looking for a compelling, inspiring new experience in mobile gaming, you've come to the right place. Here are some of my picks for most graphically insane mobile games:

Infinity Blade II

Quite frankly, Infinity Blade II is probably one of the most impressive iOS games to date. Its impeccable graphics, exciting combat system, accessibility and compelling RPG elements are some of its finest features, and inspired other developers to create vast, graphically rich adventures. Much like its predecessor, Infinity Blade II sets the standard for mobile gaming and is a must-have for any iOS gamer.

Machinarium was very much a labour of love for the developers, and opened our hearts to a whimsical world full of mystery. If you haven't yet experienced this game, do so for its evocative story, unique art style and challenging puzzles.

If you're looking for a third-person shooter experience like Gears of War, Shadowgun is about as close as you're going to get. While the gameplay is impressive for a mobile game, I will admit, it isn't exactly the most enriching and can veer towards the repetitive side. Even so, there are some truly ambitious ideas here, particularly in the boss battles, and offers an exciting look at the genre in a mobile setting.

Rage HD

Rage HD isn't so much a full-fledged game, but rather a compliment to id Software's much under-appreciated FPS, Rage. That never stops it from being an engaging mobile game, both in graphics and gameplay, and offers heart-pounding on-rails shooter action you'll love.

Rayman Jungle Run

The release of Rayman Origins paved the way for a new direction in the under-appreciated series, and since its release has even branched forward into mobile as well. Rayman Jungle Run isn't just a shell of its reboot game either, in fact Ubisoft and Pastagames! have created a wonderful one-touch platformer without the clunky controls you might be used to seeing. Add in the colourful, stimulating graphics and you've got yourself one compelling game.
