Google’s Pixel 3 XL is the latest release in their lineup known for powerful cameras and access to the latest Android features available.
While it shares many of its specifications with its smaller sibling -- the Google Pixel 3 -- there are a few key differences to note.
The first is the display size. Measuring 6.3-inches and sporting a resolution of 1440-by-2960, it offers excellent detail and color reproduction according to reviewers.
However, unlike the smaller Pixel 3, the larger display on the Pixel 3 XL includes a notch at the top to house the dual front-facing cameras. While display notches have been a much-debated issue in 2018, the notch on this phone is particularly large. Reviewers found this frustrating as notifications were often cramped and the notch was harder to ignore when using full-screen applications or streaming video.
The only other difference comes in the battery. The phone includes a beefier 3430mAh battery. While reviewers found that the battery helped keep the phone on par with its smaller sibling, many still wished the battery life was better. Still, it will be enough to last the day during typical use.
Everything else about the phone is identical to the Pixel 3. For more on what to expect in terms of audio, performance, camera quality, and more, consult our Pixel 3 review summary.
What the Critics Are Saying...

- Henry Burrell, Tech AdvisorThe Pixel 3 XL is still a decent Android phone despite the introduction of the Pixel 4 range. The display is outstanding, the design is finally premium and the camera is one of the best ever seen on a smartphone. A fairly high price tag is no longer an issue thanks to a significant drop, so the 3 XL...

- Matt Adams, Android GuysI can’t recommend the Pixel 3 XL right now based on its price. There are too many options that are simply better phones for close to the price. Google seemingly can’t drop the price either due to the recent release of the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. Those phones do 90% of what the 3 and 3 XL do but at half...

- Michael Simon, PCWorldThe Pixel 3 XL doesn't have the best specs, the best design, or the best price. But it has a stellar user experience you can't get in any other Android phone.

- Manny Pham, What MobileThe main event is obviously the camera. Everything is how you would want it to look and night mode works a treat. The ability to dull bright lights at night and light up darker areas helps the Pixel to really bring the wow factor in a market with many good cameras. Overall, this device is fantastic....

- Connie Chen, Business InsiderIf you want a larger phone, plan on taking lots of pictures, and hate charging your phone often, the Google Pixel 3 XL is the smartphone to buy. It's powerful but simple and intuitive to use, and it has all the features to make you a Google power user. While large, it's also light and slim, so you w...
