The Toshiba Excite 10, or Toshiba AT305, is a tablet that runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on a 10.1-inch screen. It features dual cameras, Wi-Fi, plenty of pre-installed apps, and NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor. It can be fitted with a SIM card and used to make calls, but doesn’t come with many call management features since it isn’t primarily a tablet. The Excite 10 can also be used for file sharing via Bluetooth or to watch videos through any compatible TV via the built-in HDMI port.
There are both front and rear cameras with which you can also capture videos in 3GP, 3GPP, and MP4 formats. You will only get modest picture and video quality though and should not expect the sensors on the cameras to serve as a proper point-and-shoot replacement. All of the above-mentioned features are packed inside a case that weighs just a hair under 600 grams, which is lighter than the Apple iPad.
All in all, the Excite 10 offers most of the features that people look for in a tablet. Still, it somehow fails to impress. The tablet competition is pretty stiff nowadays and it simply doesn’t bring anything exciting to the table. It gives solid performance with its components but the experience could have been much better with an improved screen or better audio quality. It can only be recommended for users who won’t complain about the hefty price tag while enduring the sub-par performance of the screen.
