Even with the latest firmware Spotify doesn't work properly. Plays just a few songs and then disconnects. This problem has been noticed, by others, as of the end of 2010, but Archos hasn't fixed the problem. So don't bother if you want to use Spotify on the Archos (same problem with the 10 and 7 inch devices). Back using my Nokia N97 again. Wasted my money, you'd better not.

The Archos 28 isn't a bad media player (or Internet Tablet, to use Archos's nomenclature), but it doesn't do anything amazingly well. Its audio quality is pretty average, the low resolution resistive touchscreen display isn't the best interface for a device this size, and although Android is a theor...

A surprisingly usable micro-tablet that is highly portable and fits in your pocket

Its audio quality is pretty average, the low resolution resistive touchscreen display isn't the best interface for a device this size, and although Android is a theoretically feature-rich OS, it doesn't run especially well on a media player of this size.

But as a way to listen to all the songs you like on the go – don’t forget you can sync offline playlists too – at £79, the 4GB Archos 28 Android tablet is money well spent for music fans without a smartphone.

It may sound like we're being harsh, but the bottom line is: just because a device is affordable doesn't make it a good value. The Archos 28 has a tiny screen that doesn't respond well to touch. This means Web browsing, as well as simply navigating the device, offers more annoyance than entertainment or convenience. Whether you agree with Archos that this is a tablet or not, it is nonetheless a device with issues, and at this low price, my advice is to avoid the Internet-browsing "tablets" altogether. In 2010-11, $100 is too little to pay for a strong, Internet equipped device; they're just not there yet.
