A fine concept but underwhelming in execution

from Expert Reviews

The Suunto 3 Fitness has the laudable goal of simplifying working out for beginners. It automatically tells you when and how hard to train, so you don’t have to plan your own schedule. But it only succeeds to an extent.

The Suunto 3 Fitness is bit of a departure from the sports watches we've seen come out from the Finnish company recently. It does an admirable job of squeezing in some of the best features of its Spartan watches into a more unimposing body that's very well priced. It also showcases an adaptive training feature that shows great promise although it's really disappointing to see built-in GPS is missing in action.

Great for the millennial multisport athlete on a budget

from Wired

It's nice to finally have an affordable sports watch that recognizes that there are at least seventy different ways you can be active, in addition to hitting the gym. What are you doing this weekend? Climbing or skateboarding? Paddling a canoe? It all counts, and the 3 Fitness has you covered.

DC Rainmaker

A pretty respectable first attempt

In many ways the Suunto 3 Fitness is a pretty respectable first attempt by Suunto to try and enter the lower-priced trendy market. It’s lighter as well as thinner (and of course, lacking GPS). But slicing the chunkiness factor in half is kinda a big deal. And from an overall on-wrist experience, it’s actually pretty smooth.

If you can live without GPS and can forgive a few flaws this is worth a look.

Puts an experienced personal trainer on your wrist

from Digital Trends

Suunto’s 3 Fitness introduces an innovative new fitness-tracking feature without breaking the bank. At just $230, the watch isn’t just cost-effective, it’s a downright steal. Of course, there are cheaper options, but none offer anything close to Adaptive Training Guidance.

An easy-to-wear watch that can go everywhere

from Gear Patrol

I’m a big fan of watches that track a bit of everything (including swimming!), and I like that the 3 Fitness encourages me to take a day off. I’m a big fan of watches that track a bit of everything (including swimming!), and I like that the 3 Fitness encourages me to take a day off. With other watches it can feel like a bit of a rat race, trying to one-up myself every day, every week, every month. The 3 Fitness reminds me to take a deep breath and relax, which is important, too. We can all use a little bit more recovery these days.
