The Wirecutter

The best GPS running watch

from The Wirecutter

Feature-loaded, a joy to wear and use, and accurate when measuring heart rate from the wrist, this is everything most runners want in a GPS watch.

Pocket-lint

Offers a wider feature set than previous devices

The Forerunner 645 adds music, but it's currently limited by a lack of support from music streaming services. That dulls the headline feature of what is otherwise a great fitness tracker, with smartwatch-beating battery life and plenty of customisation. It's a little expensive too.

The Garmin Forerunner 645 Music is a comprehensive fitness watch that also streams music to Bluetooth headsets so you can leave your phone at home. Its connection to earbuds is occasionally finicky, though. Unless playing music without bringing your phone is essential, the audio feature isn’t worth the extra $50 over the regular Forerunner 645, which is a significant improvement over early models.

Garmin gets its groove on, but it comes at a price

from PC & Tech Authority

A great GPS sports watch that has just about all the chops of the most expensive Garmin watches. Plus it comes with support for music, while looking much more accessible.

PhoneArena

For seriously active individual

from PhoneArena

The Garmin Forerunner 645 Music isn't a sports watch for the masses. At $450, it is too expensive and too uninspiring with its design, while the plethora of fitness and tracking features are hard to appreciate by someone who just casually jogs just once per week.

Lets you leave your phone behind, but not your fitness goals

from Digital Trends

If you consider yourself an extremely active individual who runs, bikes, swims, or hikes, Garmin’s Forerunner 645 is the fitness tracker for you. If you’d only use its extensive fitness features sparingly, then perhaps you’d be better off saving some money and going with an alternative like Fitbit’s Versa.

TechRadar

Too expensive for what it offers

from TechRadar

A watch that can track a huge variety of sports and look good while doing it. However, the headline music playback feature feels very half-baked and the battery life isn't as good as we've experienced on other Garmin watches.
