At this, the Vi does a pretty good job, and you get a rather nice pair of headphones out of the deal as well.

Alphr

The AI that wants to replace your personal trainer

from Alphr

Vi is great because it’s not aimed at marathon runners looking to shave seconds off their best times. It’s aimed at people who don’t really understand the numbers put out by fitness devices but who want someone to interpret them and offer encouragement.

The Telegraph

A product that has its heart in the right place

from The Telegraph

All in all, there’s much to admire about Vi. I like that it’s water resistant, as I get rather sweaty when exercising. I like that you can easily see how fast and far you run, and it’s easy to establish your progress – it would be great for training for a marathon, for example.

The Vi Personal Trainer earphones get plenty right, but the poor voice command system makes using them mid-exercise a frustrating experience.

WhatsYourTech

More has to be done to put this AI into more ears

from WhatsYourTech

There’s real potential for what Lifebeam has done with the Vi, and it’s a commendable effort for a first time out in the market. But they are expensive at over $300, and clearly lean towards runners. If you aren’t running on a regular basis, then the Vi isn’t quite ready for you yet.

Ground-breaking AI coach, missing some essentials

from TechRadar

The LifeBEAM Vi is a remarkable piece of fitness tech and one of the most exciting running products we’ve seen in years. However, for all her smarts Vi doesn’t do enough of the running basics right to even replace your watch, let alone your coach.

A personal trainer that lives in your earbuds

from iMore

I'm nitpicking Vi a lot, but it's for a reason. In its current state, Vi is not for people just getting started. As I mentioned, it is a fantastic piece of fitness tracking equipment with a lot of unique smart learning software under the hood. But it's definitely designed for people that are already runners.
