I really like the Gear Fit2, and it’s something I could definitely see myself buying. For me, it’s like a prettier version of the Garmin Vivosmart HR+, and that was my favourite fitness band of the year. It’s not quite as laser-focused for the dedicated fitness buff, and the app is a little more wooly in the way it presents its stats, but as a product it’s both stylish and fully featured. If you have a Samsung phone with the ecosystem already set up, it’s about as close to a no-brainer as a £170 luxury item can be; for everyone else, it warrants serious consideration. Generally, fitness trackers offer you a blunt binary choice: plenty of features, or something that looks stylish to wear. The Gear Fit2 proves you can have both if you know where to look.

I prefer a smartwatch over a fitness tracker any day. This is because apart from tracking basic things like step count and calories burned, I like to have something where I can see notifications, reply to them, maybe even navigate maps. I want a bit more of functionality so that I don’t have to use my smartphone all the time. The Gear Fit 2 however is for the pure fitness junkie. It’s an excellent tracker. It has a vivid looking display and a satisfying battery life. Even the UI on the band feels cleaner and more intuitive. The accompanying app can seem overwhelming at first, but once you start using it, it is actually useful and informative.

More smartwatch than fitness tracker

from Gearburn

The Samsung Gear Fit 2 is more evolution than revolution. Unlike other fitness trackers, it adds valuable smartwatch features to a slim and simple design but that seems to come at the price of inaccurate, and oddly vague fitness readings.

The samsung gear fit 2 is a good device for those who are looking for a fitness tracker that can do more than just track activities. Its large screen and vibrant AMOLED display makes it stand out from most other activity trackers, which sport monochrome displays. The UI is pretty intuitive and is smooth to use. At Rs. 13,990, there are a lot of cheaper fitness trackers you can purchase, but you won't get the additional features like notifications that you get with the Gear Fit 2. The only other fitness tracker that offers similar functionality is the Fitbit Blaze, However, that's more expensive than the Gear Fit 2. If you are in the market for a good fitness tracker than can not only give you details about your workout, but also notifications like a smartwatch, then the Gear Fit 2 is certainly worth a look.

For those who like to mix things up

I’m not impressed with the battery life, although I’d say this is better suited to those who like to do more than one activity for fitness. Gear Fit 2 is pretty accurate for sleep and activities, even if the step count is off in some instances. The Gear Fit 2 will also show notificati... More

I’m not impressed with the battery life, although I’d say this is better suited to those who like to do more than one activity for fitness. Gear Fit 2 is pretty accurate for sleep and activities, even if the step count is off in some instances. The Gear Fit 2 will also show notifications from your smartphone, and has GPS as well, but it’s not entirely swim-proof. The Gear Fit 2 can definitely be added to your list of wearbles if you are in the market to buy one, and don’t mind spending a little extra.
