What Wearable Tech

Sony's secret weapon that gives you more bang for your back

from What Wearable Tech

The Sony HDR AS100V seems to be a great contender in the world of action cameras even when it stands against some of the well-established GoPro cameras. While this camera doesn’t have the highest spec available today (4K), it can shoot up to 1080p video and is perfect for those of you who want to save money.

With its beautiful and sleek design the AS100V is one of those cameras that will make you fall in love with it once you start exploring and using its awesome features. From streaming live content to your family and friends, to taking great high definition footage of your e... Full review

Cycling tips

A wide range of filming options

from Cycling tips
In a market that’s becoming increasingly crowded, the Sony Action Cam does what it claims it will do, and does so effectively. It shoots good quality video and images and has enough options to allow you to customize its use to your own liking. The Steady Shot image stabilization is probably the most impressive I’ve seen in a camera of this kind... Full review
Digital Wearable Devices

Easy to capture all the action

from Digital Wearable Devices
It easily stands up against its competitors in terms of being recognized as an action camera. It can be mounted almost anywhere, so you have a lot of choice in terms of the angles that you want to film from and this allows you to record footage that you will want to watch time after time... Hugely impressive Image stabilization

from Cycling weekly
The question most people will want to know the answer to: should I purchase the Sony or a GoPro Hero 3? With regards to image quality there isn’t much between the two, but the GoPro is vastly superior in terms of water proofing, mounting options and the quality of the mounts. The Sony wins for image stabilisation, low light recording and GPS, which is a great feature... Full review

Really solid, well-priced action camera for the casual user

from The Huffington Post

Sony's Full-HD action camera is a really mixed bag, it offers superb sound capture, ease-of-use and fantastic colour reproduction. Where it lets itself down though is in the actual quality of the footage, it was nowhere near as sharp as we were expecting, especially at Full-HD.

It'll be fine for home videos and for uploading to YouTube but if you're looking for something to show off on your newly bought Full-HD/4K Curved TV then perhaps this isn't for you. What it is though is a really solid, well-priced action camera for the casual user who wants to capture those family m... General image quality out of the AS100 was decent

from OutdoorGearLab
Sony stepped up to the plate and almost knocked it over the fence with the awesome features of the AS100, but dropped the ball with the mounting options that we found really crippling to our creativity. A few tweaks to the design, and we would be psyched... Full review
Cnet

Built-in image stabilization and high bitrate recording

from Cnet
There's no doubt that Sony's Action Cams keep getting better with every successive generation. Built-in GPS, image stabilization and high bitrate recording are all features that can lure buyers away from the GoPro giant. Not much separates the cameras on image quality. If you prefer a punchier image straight out of the camera the Sony delivers on that front. If you want a more even, flat exposure, the GoPro will be more up your alley... Full review

GoPro has finally some competition

from Gizmodo
Ultimately, it may depend on how you're going to use the camera; if you value GPS more than waterproofing, the Sony should be your pick. Overall, though, the GoPro offers more versatility, more reliability, and just slightly better quality (Sony's fisheye drives me nuts). GoPro's still on top. But it's finally got some legitimate competition... Full review
