Wired

More portable and has excellent sound

from Wired

This is Soundfreaq’s second go-around for its Sound Kick compact Bluetooth speaker. The first version had an expandable back. When you popped out the box-like extrusion, it increased the interior volume of the speaker enclosure and improved the sound. It also changed the footprint of the speaker, allowing you to tip it back so the drivers were facing at an upward angle. This new Sound Kick 2 doesn’t expand or blow up or anything, but it does still tip back. The expanding enclosure has been replaced by a fixed enclosure that has a little kickstand. Overall, the updated speaker is more portable and has excellent sound, and it remains one of our favorite options at $100.

Android and Me

Improves upon its predecessor in every single way

from Android and Me

The Soundfreaq Sound Kick 2 improves upon its predecessor in every single way, without compromise or downsides. Well, if you don’t count the disappearance of the LED strip. Everything from the battery life, the build quality, the sound, and even the aesthetic is better, much better than before....

The Sound Kick 2 takes everything that customers found lacking in the original and improves upon it. It’s far more rugged for the outdoors type of people, it’s classier looking to fit in with your home decor, and there’s no collapsing chamber to stop the music when it’s closed. If you want a good all around speaker for home, travel, and everything in between, this is it. It’s the kind of speaker that can do it all.

Android Police

The sequel is better than the original

from Android Police

I think the Sound Kick 2 does a great job of improving on an already-good speaker in basically every way. And, most importantly, it does it all while keeping the price the same as the original: $100. If you're looking for a great around-the-house speaker (including the kitchen and shower), this is definitely one to add to the list.

iLounge

It pumps out clear, well-rounded sound from a thin, attractive package

from iLounge

Overall, Soundfreaq’s Sound Kick 2 holds its own against many top performers. It pumps out clear, well-rounded sound from a thin, attractive package. Even though it’s portable, this Bluetooth speaker’s size and look will lead many to see Sound Kick 2 as a nice home speaker. Though it may not be quite the revelation Sound Kick was in early 2012, Sound Kick 2 is a worthy successor, and any consumers thinking of buying a $100 Bluetooth speaker this summer certainly should check out Soundfreaq’s newest before making a decision.
