Nice sound, nice features, but tough to really love

from Wired
This portable boombox has a couple of cool tricks that set it apart from other wireless speakers. First, you can link up to six speakers together via Wi-Fi and place them around the house to spread out the sound... Full review

Swiss Army knife speaker

from Tom's Guide
With multiroom capabilities, a variety of ways to play music wirelessly and a ton of other features, the Libratone Zipp is like the Swiss Army knife of wireless speakers. But it's got more than just tech going for it: It looks good, sounds good and is easy to use... Full review

Great looks, good sound, lots of features

from PCWorld
Judged on their own merits, the Zipp and the Zipp Mini are both pretty good speakers. They’re quite versatile no matter which platform you prefer: Mac OS, Windows, Android, or iOS; media player, smartphone, or computer. And you’re not stuck should you decide to switch platforms. In terms of bang for the buck, the larger Zipp delivers more for the money than the $249 Zipp Mini, including a bigger amp, larger speakers, and two tweeters to the Zipp Mini’s one. It’s definitely worth the extra $50... Full review

Stylish, portable design, and rich sound

The Libratone Zipp Mini speaker delivers a bass-forward, user-friendly Bluetooth and Wi-Fi audio experience that can be used in multi-room scenarios... Full review

Its design is modern and inviting

from PhoneArena

Visually, we can’t deny that the Libratone Zipp has an amusing one that manages to go outside of the norm, but the $400 price point attached to it online through places like Amazon makes it a tough call. It sure is a big investment on its own, that’s certainly obvious here, especially for one that produces average sounding audio – with no Bluetooth connection on top of that. Yes, we’ll argue that its PlayDirect option is an effective alternative, but most people have come to be complacent with Bluetooth instead. Finally, the fine tuning properties of the speaker is f... It delivers defined edges with some serious projection, all the while keeping distortion nearly nonexistent

from TechnologyTell
Compared to the Libratone Zipp, the Live is bigger, better, and louder. That’s the trade you get for losing portability and having to (mostly) remain indoors. Although the Live is unbalanced in favor of the lows, it’s done with care. It delivers defined edges with some serious projection, all the while keeping distortion nearly nonexistent. You can find the Libratone Live on Amazon for around $400, which I consider a very competitive price for the power and audio quality... Full review

The Zipp is the lowest-end product and yet it could easily be confused for a much more expensive product

from Gadget Review
While audio quality is Libratone’s biggest sales point in the audio market, the Zipp succeeds future-proof connectivity to smartphones and Wi-Fi networks and portability without compromise. The Zipp is the lowest-end product and yet it could easily be confused for a much more expensive product. One that’s fit for travel in nearly any situation. It’s the best travel speaker I’ve ever used, by a longshot. I wouldn’t recommend you use it for your wedding reception…but you could do a lot worse... Full review

As fun to listen to as it is to look at, the portable Zipp is an AirPlay pleasure

from Stuff
Libratone has got the sound bang on. It really does spread the tunes right around the room, delivering detailed vocals and fun, punchy beats. You can use the Libratone app to fiddle with the EQ but we'd advise leaving this alone; it sounds just right as it is... Full review

All good, but not cheap

from Wired

So the sound is solid, standard AirPlay operation is as simple as it comes, the PlayDirect stuff isn’t too complicated, and it’s very pleasant to look at. All good, but not cheap. If you’re looking for a portable AirPlay speaker, it would be difficult (but not impossible) to find something that sounds this good for under $400. But if you’re not an absolute stickler for audio fidelity, you’d be better off going with Bluetooth and buying something like the $300 Big Jambox, which sounds almost as good, works with any OS and doesn’t require any extra dance st...
