Good baseline level of quality wherever I go, with minimum prep or fuss

It’s better than headphones because you don’t have that “voice inside your head” effect and can do other work while listening; it’s better than built-in computer speakers for obvious reasons; and I’d say it may even be better than a full-on stereo system because as we enter the streaming music era, you don’t know where the music will be emanating from (a phone, a tablet, a laptop) and this allows you to switch between sources on the fly much more quickly than a traditional sound system.

Tom's Guide

The affordable UE Mini Boom sounds good, gets loud and keeps the frills to a minimum

from Tom's Guide

For $80, the UE Mini Boom is a very good portable Bluetooth speaker. When playing most music, its bass and midrange will deliver sound that pleases the ear. But it's the volume that impresses most: It gets loud enough to fill a large room, even one with plenty of people in it.

Among Bluetooth speakers under $100, I prefer the Mini Jambox, which is more stylish, offers better overall sound and has a few more features than the Mini Boom. But if you're looking for portable speaker that can really drive the party, the UE Mini Boom is an excellent choice.

The Wirecutter

I was shocked by how good it sounded and how loud it could play

from The Wirecutter

For everyone on the panel, the Logitech UE Mini Boom was the obvious choice for the average buyer. It’s inexpensive, and it’s easy to carry around because it’s roughly the size of half an orange. It plays about as loud as a large flat-panel TV set, so it’s loud enough to fill a hotel room with sound. Your music will sound like your music, not like a stripped-down version of it. You’ll hear all the voices and instruments clearly, and the only thing you’ll notice is missing is the lower bass notes.

PCWorld

Probably the best Bluetooth speaker you could buy for less than $100

from PCWorld

The UE Mini Boom isn’t meant to be shackled to a corner of a home. This is a speaker made for on the go use, where outside noises will naturally pervert the experience. Volume here is paramount, and the UE Mini Boom manages to cram a whole lot of good sound into a tiny, portable and attractive case that you will want to take with you.

Entertainment Focus

It does what it says on the tin and the sound quality is excellent

from Entertainment Focus

There’s not all that much more to say about the UE Mini Boom to be honest. It’s a simple speaker to use and it won’t take long to get set-up. It does what it says on the tin and the sound quality is excellent. What more could you want from a portable Bluetooth speaker? The price is pretty reasonable too so if you’re looking for a perfect portable, and small, speaker than end your search here because it’s perfect. -

Tiny Bluetooth speaker packs a punch

from Digital Spy

In the end, the UE Mini Boom does exactly what it says on the tin. It's a smaller, less powerful version of last year's Boom.

Sound quality won't blow your mind, especially if you crank the volume levels up, but for something this size, it's one of the best Bluetooth speakers out there.

Innovative features, warm and detailed sound signature, reams of power

from Digital Trends

With innovative features, a warm and detailed sound signature, and reams of power, UE’s Mini Boom makes a strong pitch as the new leader in the entry-level portable speaker category. At this size and price point, you’ll have a very difficult time finding a speaker that outperforms the Mini Boom, let alone two of them paired together. Those looking to stay around the $100 mark for a portable sound solution would do well to place UE’s Mini Boom towards the top of their list.

Gadgetmac

Effortless and spacious audio experience that can be set up around the home in seconds

from Gadgetmac

There's good reason why the UE MINI BOOM costs $100 and has the word mini attached to its name, and that's because Ultimate Ears' $200 UE Boom is twice as good in every regard. But if you can't justify spending $200 on a wireless speaker, the UE MINI BOOM is a fantastic little alternative that can be paired up with a second one like it without costing more than a single UE Boom speaker. And for that you get really big sound and great battery life which is vital for every portable wireless speaker. Even though the sound quality doesn't live up to a high-end speaker system, Logitech's wireless dual speaker technology makes up for it with effortless and spacious audio experience that can be set up around the home in seconds.
