As well thought-out as it is, there IS one minor issue with the AirFrame that its designers could not avoid, being a vent-based clip, and that is in cold weather if you have your heat blasting out of those vents, you COULD overheat your device. It’s getting cold here in the Northeast right now, and I get around this by setting my heat to the “defrost and legs” setting. So if you’re the type who needs to hold their hand in front of the vent while driving in cold weather, maybe get a pair of gloves. But I find that to be a small tradeoff to finally be able to have my iPhone giving me directions up near eye level.
Read full reviewThe Airframe+ withstood all the tests I put it through and passed them all. It held on to my Moto X through all the quick turns and steep hills I took it on without letting it slip once. It is by far the best car mount I have ever used and with its high quality construction I do not imagine I will need another one anytime soon.

Ultimately, the only problem we had with it was when trying to remove the phone, but that doesn't change our overall opinion. At first we weren't sure how this would be very beneficial to anyone, but now that we have it, we will definitely be using it again.

While the $5 price premium puts it on the fine edge of our B+ and B ratings, Airframe+ is still a very good product, ultimately meriting our strong general recommendation. We really like the fact that the design is small and unobtrusive; the fact that it’s easy to use with virtually every one of Apple’s pocket-sized devices—including upcoming models—is also a plus. As was the case last time, the price is on the high side, and we’d prefer that it remain attached to the vent at all times. That said, it’s a really nice solution for users who prefer minimalism and are willing to pay a bit more for something that looks and feels good.

Companies that produce much more expensive and complex mounting solutions have sent over samples, but I keep on going back to Kenu’s Airframe line because it’s so easy to switch out phones and I don’t have to worry about swapping out cases.

The Airframe+ is easily the best low-profile smartphone mount we’ve seen, and with the ever increasing belt-line of Android devices, it’s an easy recommendation. It also retails for $29.99, making it one of the more cost effective mounts around. Not having to fuss with sticking it to a dash or windshield is actually refreshing, too. You can also easily take the Airframe+ with you; no adhesives or suction -- along with it's incredibly low profile (great for tossing in a travel bag) -- make it the ultimate travel companion for when you rent a car. A little slice of home comfort, anywhere you go? We like that a lot.

And at a price of $29.95, the Airframe+ is a gadget that is worth more than its price. The original Airframe will still be available for sale for $24.95, and for $5 more the Airframe+ is just perfect for those of you who have one of those huge phones (with up to 6 inch screens) that need it.

The Airframe+ can be turned into a portable stand by simply attaching a credit card, or an expired gift card, to the back so that it’s used to help prop it up. As the company loves to tout, the Airframe+ is simple, elegant, and hands-free. Obviously, we can agree to those claims, but best of all, we really love how it’s discrete – giving us a clear view of the windshield as we’re driving. It’s charming to say the least, but the Airframe+’s price point of $24.95 might seem a bit steep for something that doesn’t have as many attachments as a regular suction dock. However, it’s a cost we wouldn’t mind spending because our view from the driver’s seat isn’t obstructed. And that's important!
Read full reviewKenu has updated and revised the popular Airframe air vent mount for iPhone by giving it a more expandable jaw and the ability to work with bigger, deeper cases. My only complaint at this time is that it's still somewhat expensive at $30, when other air vent mounts can be had for less than $10.
