Two new Android-powered handsets were made available through US Cellular recently, namely the Huawei Ascend Y and Alcatel One Touch Shockwave. The Huawei Ascend Y is a standard Gingerbread-powered Android phone with a 3.5-inch HVGA screen, 3.2MP camera, 800MHz CPU, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, and microSD card support. Meanwhile, the Alcatel One Touch Shockwave is a basic rugged smartphone with similar specs to the Ascend Y but with the added bonus of having a shock resistant housing, special Dragontrail glass, and a water resistant casing. With accompanying service contracts, the Huawei Ascend Y and Alcatel One Touch Shockwave cost $0.01 and $49.99, respectively.
