Here’s something for the ladies out there in search of a mobile phone that will truly stand out. Sony Ericsson has just unveiled their latest handset, the Jalou.
It’s a new clamshell handset that features 2-inch 240x320 display, 3.2-megapixel camera with geo-tagging support, Bluetooth, FM radio, and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS HSDPA 2100MHz connectivity. That all looks pretty average as far as specs go, but what truly sets this apart from the rest is its beveled design which makes it look like a jewel. It's a little over-the-top for our personal taste, but if its something different you're looking for, this certainly fits the bill. The Jalou will be available in gem inspired colored iterations such as Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue and Onyx Black, and a special limited edition Dolce&Gabbana Sparkling Rose version will also be released which boasts of having real 24 carat gold plating. More info can be found here.

While the exact release date of the Jalou was not revealed, it is, however, expected to be made available in Canada within 3 months time according to their website. Its price, likewise, is still yet to be known. No carriers have announced the Jalou yet, but for those looking for a unique phone to add to their collection, you should definitely keep an eye out for this new Sony Ericsson handset.
