Since Nokia announced their new flagship phone, the N97, we’ve pretty much heard nothing from them as far as touchscreens are concerned.

However, according to TheStreet.com, the Finnish mobile phone giant is actually working on 3 different slim touchscreen phones which will feature Immersion’s haptics vibration feedback. We’re not quite sure how the technology works, but we’re hoping that it’ll provide more feel to the interface which the iPhone is sorely lacking. The exact release date wasn’t mentioned, but people who are “familiar with the matter” say that it could become available as early as this fall.

No particular model names were mentioned nor were any additional specs provided, but news that Nokia isn’t sleeping on the job is reassuring. For now, since we really don’t have a clue what to expect, our money is still on the mighty QWERTY-equipped N97 touchscreen phone.
