Those looking at getting the Touchtype app for landscape e-mail composition on the iPhone might want to hold onto their $0.99 and check out the Firemail app that’s just been released.
It basically does the same thing as Touchtype, but is free of charge. So what’s the difference? Well, we actually don’t know since we never purchased the Touchtype app in the first place, and the Firemail app seems to work just fine. It's only limit is in exporting to mail and saving bookmarks, but we figure future iterations will support Notes as well.
So for those who chose not to buy the Touchtype app, you’re frugality has been rewarded with the free Firemail app. Just remember, this only works with firmware 2.0 and above so if you’re not yet on the latest firmware, now is the best time to upgrade.
